L.A. Internet Convention
People gather bag-fulls
Of enticing brochures and magazines
Competing to show the heaviest load
As if it was winnings of a greedy person
Who got lucky in Vegas
Salespeople sell computers and programs
But pretend to be celebrities,
Actors, dancers and musicians
Making it a 3-ring circus
To entertain the geeks
People look for a handout
Attendees are trained like Pavlov's dog
If they show they're receptive listeners
They get a cheap goody:
A hat, T-Shirt, button, some freebie
Curious people walk down the aisles
Observing endless rows of booths
Displaying state of the art technology
Intended for life enhancement
But the thousands of people
Are invisible to each other
Until they decide to talk business
