Denim Day = Tuesday April 20, 1999

Two months ago, in Italy, a girl was raped

She was 18, as usual the victim was blamed

It was her fault, that she was wearing jeans

Which were so tight, said the judge

That she definitely had helped the rapist

To take them off

Some women in America

And even the Mayor of L.A.

Were appalled and declared a protest day

Encouraging people everywhere

To wear jeans and beware

Calling it: Denim Day

That's much better than trendy fashions

So how about also a protest on Wednesday

Let's call it Middle-Eastern Day

Cover your head with a cloth

To support the Muslims

Who are the targets of hate crimes

From Kosovo to the K.K.K.

How about next Thursday

We make it a Colorful Day

Everybody's requested:

Put black paint on your face

To protest the racism

Against people of color today

And on Friday for Wretched Day:

Show up to work

With torn clothes and no shoes

To protest that poverty's not okay

On Saturday for No Sell Out Day:

Go out there, with a dollar bill

Taped to your forehead

To protest against politicians who betray

And on Sunday for Simplicity Day:

Go anywhere

With a noose 'round your neck

To protest against the consumerism craze

On Monday for Superpower Health Care Day:

Go out in public

Wearing a bandage over one eye

To protest to get free health care

And next Tuesday for Peace Day:

Shave your head, paint it red

To protest against violence

and the Department of Warfare
