(In the development phase)
Faith:
Believe that things will be better tomorrow
Life:
Make the best of the current breath, resolving and then letting go
of the past, outlining a hopeful yet realistic future
Personal Loyalties:
Being loyal to the truth is more important than being loyal to a personal
opinion
Wrong or Right:
An action which creates negative consequences in the long term, is
wrong.
An action which generates a ripple of positive consequences, from a
long term point of view, is right.
Cause and Effect:
According to Physics: For every action there an equal reaction.
According to most spiritual practices: Every action results in consequences.
It doesn't matter if an action is considered right or wrong, either
way the consequences have to be received
Alive:
To be awake and have a level of awareness to strive toward righteous
actions, righteous words and righteous thoughts
Awareness:
A life-long process to attain ultimate sobriety, by letting go of the
various levels of the (duniya) material world
Duniya:
The biggest addiction is to the life on this earth
Intoxication:
Like alcohol, drugs, work, popularity, sex can be an addiction. Some
necessary medicines contain drugs and alcohol, which are sometimes abused.
Similarly, sexual promiscuity; heterosexual or homosexual, creates consequences
similar to the results of drug addiction
Paying Attention:
Lessons are everywhere, as long as we pay attention
Division vs. Joining:
In a dialogue among friends, we can look from a point of view of us
vs. them. Or from the perspective of looking for the common threads, to
go toward a meeting of the minds
Hope:
Life in the world is established upon hope
Friend:
The one who cares about you, tells you the truth, and is trustworthy.
Knows you best
Father/Son:
A father's job is to prepare the son, and teach him all the wisdom
required for the son to succeed in the world as a man (not a boy)
Father / Daughter:
The role of the father is that he serves as an example for his daughter,
as she will choose a husband who is like her father
Spouse:
A person whom you can entrust with the life of your children.
A partner who brings out the best in you and supports you on an honorable
path
Boy:
A male who is less than 13 years old.
A male who is over 21 and acts more like a boy than like a man
Mama's Boy:
A male who is over 21 years old, and is still significantly attached
more to his mother than to his father. He has a (co-)dependency upon his
mother. Has not made the necessary break, required for beginning the journey
into manhood
Teacher:
The best way to teach is by being an example
Preacher:
The one who is trying to sell you religion through some manipulation
or marketing ploys
Religious Person:
One who is afraid of going to hell
Spiritual Person:
One who had gone through hell and does not want to go there again
Opinion:
A subjective way of looking at a topic
Knowledge:
Is based on facts
Education:
An educated person can still be uneducated in (or in ignorace of) some
areas
Ignorance:
Denying the truth
Arrogance:
Refusal toward learning
Reality:
Haqeeqat: from the word Haq, meaning what is truth in the material
and non-material worlds
Illusion:
An inaccurate perception
Denial:
To be intoxicated, self-absorbed, believing your own B.S., fear of
looking at the truth, not wanting to accept reality
Attitude:
How you show up in the world, what you bring, your outlook, the belief
system you're coming from
Skeptical:
Believing that the other person is not telling the truth, even when
he is.
Being doubtful, questioning the sincerity of a person,
wanting to make the other person wrong, instead of objectively seeking
truth in the conversation.
Restricting one's own vision
Devil's Advocate:
Taking the negative view point of wanting to prove a principle wrong,
rather than trying to prove it right. Dwelling on the small area of the
exceptions to the rule, rather than focusing on the general wisdom of a
principle
Cynical:
Being closed minded, having difficulty in believing, perceiving the
worst of human nature,
thinking negatively about other people's motives
Rebellion:
Positive side: resisting what is false.
Negative side: resisting what is true, by being stubborn and
having the illusion that this is the definition of freedom,
behaving like a brat to get your own way for selfish gains
Believer:
One who is committed to believing in what's true. Follows principles
which are higher than his personal, individual rules. Group-oriented rather
than ego oriented.
Non-Believer:
One who is skeptical, cynical, rebellious, plays the devil's advocate.
Follows his personal, ego based, subjective opinions as rules for living.
Practices rules like: "it's all about me" and "I do whatever makes
ME feel good".
Blame:
Being unaware that when he points one finger to blame another person,
three fingers are pointing at his own self.
Not taking responsibility for his own actions, words and thoughts
Responsible:
Taking ownership, knowing the importance of being accountable.
Striving for self-sufficiency on the path of Self-developement
Accountable:
Being responsible for the consequences of one's actions
Sacrifice:
The price you pay to achieve something of importance
Fair:
Doing the appropriate action to achieve an equivalent result, without
cheating.
Life is not fair, so it's beneficial to not have attachment to expectations
Ineffective Muslim:
One who labels himself a Muslim, without significantly applying Islamic
teachings, and so is not experiencing the benefits
Woman:
The most influential member of the family
Child:
The most important member of the family
Commitment:
Taking the leap off a diving board, into the pool:
Being dedicated to only one option
B.S.:
Talking about something fictitious as if it were true.
The fantasy a man creates when trying to court a woman.
Confusion:
Perceiving that there are many options available, but not making a
choice
Devotion:
Commitment to something bigger than one self
Independence:
To believe that one is not under the influence of others.
Viewing the individual in isolation, free from the rules of society,
and not wanting to pay the consequences for exercising the freedom of not
following higher spiritual principles
Interdependence:
Human beings are social animals who require relationships for survival.
Relationship:
Everything is connected.
Relationships include all elements of the universe: humans with each
other, with animals, plants, earth, ancestors, Creator
Wisdom:
Knowledge that has been distilled from generation after generation
