Storm-Clouds

'Why do you run and hide your face,

when storm-clouds fill the sky ?

And why, when the thunder starts to roll,

do you curl up tight, and cry ?'

"I hear the sound of far-off guns,

and War-drums in my head,

The Battle-cry of Soldiers, then

the voices of the dead."

'But that was sixty years ago,

when you were just a child,

Why do you look so pale and wan,

with eyes so dark and wild ?'

"I hear the beat of Soldiers' feet,

and never will forget,

The children's cries, the War-torn skies,

don't you hear them calling yet ?"
