Spiral

"Spiral"

It began in the middle of the page
Snaking its way around the center
Growing and twisting out

In the beginning it was quiet simple
We were all so amused with the flash
And the glam which we were shown

This brand new world that we swore
We would carve our names in so large
That god himself would see it down

The next time around we did just that
We were the glitz and the glam
The hunted and the lust

We loved the sense of the fiction and
The culmination of the life so
We blew it all away in spite

But then we grew old and started anew
This time we left the lights for
The airways and counter-culture

We soared higher then any winged creature
And found what was the word passion
Given within all of its grace

Clothes scattered across the room as the
Bristles from the once wild polar bear
Tickle at our naked skin as we lay by the fire

Holding you to feel every single bit
Of oxygen fill your lungs and expand your chest
Warming your body, blessing my heart

I watch the fire glow then fade in your eyes
I know you, the same woman who stood by my side
As my brother destroyed us for an empire

I traded it all then for you and lost
Now we meet again and found the
Stars still fade when the sun rises

This is the last time around
There is just no more room left on this page
The spiral has grown and run its course

I am tired now, too tired to continue the lines
My time had come and I loved every second of it
The bright lights, the untouched dreams

That life faded and then evolved
The bright lights shine in their eyes now
The young and the fevers that burn inside

Let them enjoy the rampant and the mystery
To discover that life continues the spiral
We are just meant to ride it till the end
