4th of July

"4th of July"

I watched the sun rise in the west
The clouds shone red and white
And taken to life by the Vanilla Sky

I watched her leave my life alone
As she starred into my eyes one last time
I could see the pain of memories come alive

The final flight, the final straw
Chosen by the hands of fate and
The strings of time that we let go

I watched myself starring into
Your eyes finding a hope and a dream
Of a life that we could create

The tides that crashed upon the
Beach while the sun shown through
To caress your delicate crown

We were given this moment with
Which we set our own plates
And drew up our own lives

I loved you and now feel the burn
Of the phosphorus in the wounds in my heart

And I don’t know why I care
I don’t know why I burn and bleed
And live inside the well and the pain

I gave you all I had to give
I breathed every breath for your awakening
And I pleased the pleasure in your stare

I should hate you, I should want to watch
As you fall into a million pieces
Like my heart…but I can’t

For now I must mourn and say goodbye
I don’t want to let this go
I miss the night I held you close to me

The night we slept and dreamed
Of our lives wrapped inside each other

The night you told me you loved me
Under the works of fire in the sky
you held me close and whispered in my ear

It stole your breath and left with mine
We stared into each others eyes and knew
I’d give anything for the summer wind once again

You stole my life and ate my heart
I was devoured by you and I loved you for it
I will never know a more perfect day in my lifetime

Tonight I will watch the moon set in the East
I will open my arms and let go
Now I must let the rivers begin to cry
