Autopsy of a Marriage

(a Poem in the Round)

Clearly, I can see you.
You are standing over there.
There, I kissed you sweetly.
Sweetly, kissed your face so fair.

Fair was the sky that morning.
Morning dew all about.
About to miss my transport.
Transport shone without.

Without you I was desperate.
Desperate measures essential.
Essential functions thoughtless.
Thoughtless words were mutual.

Mutual feelings of sorrow.
Sorrow drowned in liquor.
Liquor flowing richly.
Richly deserved snicker.

Snicker if you really must.
Must you act so queerly?
Queerly, I thought you would see.
See now what I see clearly?

Poem In the Round

This is a rare form, but interesting to write. As far as I know, there are no restrictions on syllabic count or number of lines; all the structure requires is that the last word of each line is the first word of the next, and that the first word of the poem is also the last word. I chose to do this one with rhyme and meter and it works fairly well, IMHO. ~RWH
