This poem was inspired by several women who attended a training that addressed the development of children.
As I listened to them share the experiences with their own children, I reflected on my own life growing up,
and how lonely I felt deep within myself, thinking no one understood me or I didn't have any one to
turn to. I waited for someone to reach out to me, to tell me that "I mattered". What I didn't know
then, was that the only person that could reach out to me, was "ME". I had to believe in
myself and believe that although the road to happiness can sometimes be difficult to
find, it CAN be found.

To those of you that attended that training,
" THANK YOU FOR BEING MY INSPIRATION "
Never give up that dream!

" Believing In Myself "

The loneliness of darkness
can lead to a world filled with sadness,
It can cause lingering frustration
to the depths of mere madness...

Darkness travels for miles
the path is filled with doubt,
You don't understand the feelings & emotions
and you question what they are all about...

Your heart lingers with emptiness
and you just want to run and hide,
The fear of loneliness consumes you
that you push everyone aside...

Your mind can trigger memories
of times that were filled with sorrows,
The memories can be very traumatic
that they engulf many of your tomorrows...

We start believing that we can't move forward,
and we feel there is no hope,
We feel robbed or our own identity
and in our hearts, we can't seem to cope...

How do I tell myself that the world
is not my enemy,
How do I fight the feelings of lonliness
and that my happiness is my own destiny...

I MUST believe in myself and
believe that there's a world filled with smiles,
I MUST engulf what the future has instored for me
for I am the person that is WORTHWHILE!
