The Rose Princess

a princess in that turret

her trapped beauty fading

racing birds carry her cries

knights pray for strength

their lonely trek to reach her

a wildfree hedge

full of blooms

of barbed wire branches

covering the castle door

guarding her window

the flash of a waving sword

hacking the viney tangle

it cries a hungry chorus

wrapping a thorny embrace

a briary death

gasping her name

transformed and forever adorning!

he's another red rose
