Every Day a Desert

stumbling past pointed spines

hard edge leaves

knee high bushes

rock of crumbling quartz

a furnace of drying winds

dead of curling leaves

often drenched by drowning rain

but every day a desert!

purple stars

egg and bacon flowers

a charcoaled stump, a beetle

in a month I'll be gone

but this bulging green

to bleed to the sky

As a waratah!
