If Only

If Only we lived closer to each other
If Only we had more time together
If Only our timing were different
If Only our situation were different
If Only we were in another time and place
If Only you felt the same way
If Only we saw each other more
If Only all that separated us was a door
If Only I were less sensitive
If Only you hadn’t become so defensive
If Only I weren’t so jealous
If Only there could truly be an “us”

We might be able to make it work and hold on

If Only you didn’t kiss so well
If Only I could forget the way you smell
If Only I hadn’t fallen so fast
If Only I could forget the past
If Only I didn’t like you so much
If Only I didn’t miss you so much
If Only you weren’t so easy to miss
If Only you hadn’t been my first kiss
If Only you weren’t so understanding of me
If Only you weren’t so damn sweet to me

I might be able to forget you and move on

But If Only’s never come true
No not for me and you
