I LOVE THE WAY YOUR HEART WORKS
I love the way your heart
works,
and the compassion that you show,
In the way that your heart breaks,
even for folks you may not know.
A hungry child in poverty
whether far or whether near,
Gets not just your attention but help,
worth far more than just a tear.
You cry when you read the paper,
about others' tragedies,
And you don't need to know the folks,
to give an answer to their pleas.
You spend part of each Thanksgiving,
preparing and serving the meals,
For the folks at the Rescue Mission,
your hands doing what your heart feels.
Now folks often say you've too much heart,
and that you take too much on you,
But I love the way that your heart works,
and the wonders that it leads you to.
