Books are the quietest
and most constant of friends; they are the most
accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most
patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

I
have always enjoyed reading. My earliest memory
of a favorite book was in the third grade and it
was about an otter. The book described a day in
the life of this otter and how he swam and
played and ate. I remember putting myself in the
book as the teacher tried to get us to imagine
and there I was inside the book watching the
otter float on his back while he put his food on
his chest and ate!
I
soon became interested in mysteries such as
Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, and Trixie Beldon.
Books to which I kept for a long time and then
passed on to my nieces. Later as a teenager I
enjoyed reading suspense about haunted mansions
or mystery people who fall in love and keep
secrets that later become revealed.
Now I enjoy reading mystery and suspense, health materials,
magazines on health, cooking, decorating and
organizing. I love reading true life stories,
the Bible, Christian inspirations books. And I
love reading news stories online.

I am addicted to Books a Million and
Barnes and Noble. I cannot pass up one or the
other. I would just soon stay there and read and
let my family go "shop"! I have way too many
books in my home that I should sell! I just love
books. Oh, and let me mention that most of my
friends know this about me. So if we girls ever
"shop" together, they would rather "leave" me in
the Book Store than wait on me. My family too.
And one friend, actually has me "read" for her
if there is something she needs to read up on! I
don't mind though, because I love to read!
Look in a Book
Ivy O. Eastwick
Look
in a book
and you will see
words
and magic
and mystery.
Look
in a book
and you will find
sense
and nonsense
of every kind.
Look
in a book
and you will know
all
the things
that can help you grow.

Open A Book
Open a book
And you will find
People and places
Of every kind.
Open a book
And you can be
Anything that
You want to be.
Open a book
And you can share
Wonderous worlds
You find in there.
Open a book
And I will, too.
You read to me,
And I'll read to you.
