Consider The Cost

In this world most people fail to realize
There's not a moment or detail hidden from God's eyes
Unkind words or thoughts toward husband or wife
Is not what you consider to be sin in your life.

You go to a restaurant and steal napkins when you leave,
Taking extra toothpicks, you are just trying to deceive
Yourself thinking just one extra isn't theft
And because you didn't take the silverware that's left,

You compliment yourself, saying "How good I am,
I left behind the packets of Jelly and jam.
If someone cuts you off, you try to do the same,
And getting ahead of them, with you, is just a game.

If you have had a thought that was a bit unkind
And let just a little revenge came into your mind,
And you dwelled upon it, thinking of a plan
To get even one of these days, if you can.

You've fallen into Satan's trap without a single clue
That something has come between the Father and you.
The closeness you once had just isn't there,
What makes Him Sad is you just don't seem to care.

It was a shameful Cross Jesus had to bear,
It was your sins, and mine, that nailed Him there.
Every time the scourge drew flesh and blood,
Was for the times you dragged his name through mud.

Every little mistake your conscience would allow
Was what put the crown of thorns on his brow,
And the lies you thought you could erase
Were the spittle that ran down Jesus' face.

The blood that flowed from His wounded side
Was for the load of guilt you've kept inside.
The Cross He bore up Golgotha's hill
Was the promise to God you failed to fulfill.

The things you've kept hidden through the years
Had Jesus in sorrow, through the veil of tears.
The Habit to which you have been a slave
Was what helped put Jesus in His Grave.

But God knew the perfect path Jesus had led,
And resurrected Jesus from among the Dead.
Since Jesus Died for your load of guilt and sin,
Just open your heart and let Jesus come in

This message is from God's word, we know it's true.
That Jesus suffered, bled and died for you.
He conquered death and Hell in total Victory,
And is risen in Glory, to make you free.
