Graduation Day


I finally made it downtown, there were squares all around
No one had told me to dress like a clown
I made it to the restaurant, but you weren't there
The waitress was pretty if she'd comb her hair
You finally arrived putting make-up on your face
And you said, "It's almost midnight, let's blow this place"

A party at COCA, we talked our way in
We looked at art and waited for the band to begin
Driving back to your place it took over an hour
As I tried a maneuver to pluck your flower
"Boy, you've gotta prove your love to me"
You said as we danced -- I guess I passed the test
Every hair, every bead of sweat I could see
By the light of the TV as you got undressed
