A broken twisted body
Lies dying by the litter strewn road
It's tiny elegant structure
Crushed by the vehicle's massive load.
While inside a bemused father
Tries to console a young girl
"Oh come on sweetheart
It was only a little squirrel"!
A broken twisted body
Stands crying in a forlorn courtroom
It's exquisite dreams
Shattered by the verdict's decreed doom
While an indifferent young woman
Tries to make him understand
"Oh what the hell Daddy
It was only a little man"!
A broken twisted society
Spreads throughout a selfish nation
It's eloquent tranquillity
Consumed by a contemptuous generation
While a confused young population
Tries to make us concede
They learned not from our talk of giving
But followed our acts of greed.
Of all the lessons
And teachings we try to impart
Only the student can determine
What they will take to heart.
One lesson of life
That every teacher must know
Kill the flower of respect
The weed of contempt will grow.
