-Note
to a Stranger-
I
have no idea who you are, yet I
have
this undeniable urge to uncover
all
your secrets and spread them out
on
my bed like so many old photographs.
There's a lot to discover.
How
a scant few words and a
gentle
smile can catalyze curiosity
into
hunger for knowledge is beyond me.
Could
be anything from the phase of the moon
to
the determination in your words.
Nature is odd like that.
Perhaps
there's something more to you
than
a lovely face and do-good heart.
Only
a walk in your park will tell whether
that
leaf-strewn path winding through your
soul
leads to a dive bar or a cathedral.
I hope it's the latter.
There
are only two roads from here.
Most
people would shrug their shoulders
and
walk away, while others might
stick
around long enough to find out.
I really don't have a choice.
It's
a hard-wired, base-coded
ROM-stored
part of who I am.
When
in doubt... I dig deeper.
I
couldn't survive on anything less.
I can't stand the not knowing.
Some
say that's my curiosity.
Others
say it's my calling.
Whatever
they say, it is what it is.
Now,
if you don't mind, I think I'll take a rest
on
that bench over there before we begin.
I'm a bit sleepy.
