Eyelids like a
rock sinking in water.
The sea of
sleep envelops the mind.
Kids are on the
beach playing volleyball.
The ball soars
valiantly through the deep blue sky.
Surfers and
swimmers alike, enjoy the weather.
Down you fall,
further into the water
More shade,
strange creatures - all left to your imagination.
Night sets in
and you float to the surface.
Tossing and
turning to go back under, fighting the current.
The moon, as a
night light, shows intensely in a clear purple sky.
Stars - begging
to be counted - glisten across the sky.
Drifting off,
you form the stars to
Pictures,
dippers, mythological creatures, shapes.
Eyelids become
heavy, you start to sink,
Just in time
for the sun to come out to play.
Families arrive
for picnics, throwing frisbees to dogs,
Kids building
sand castles, playing volleyball.
And you, drifting
off to a world of unknown, a world
Only
describable in words.
