It's been a year since I saw you last,
A year since we first met.
The moment my eyes connected with yours, you had me.
I would've knelt at your very wish.
Would've swam the seas of the Earth
Had you inquired me to do so.
But you simply looked back, asking for nothing more than me.
The last night was the best, gazing deeply into your eyes,
As they glisten with the reflection of the campfire ablaze with our hearts.
Embers gently floating upward, ashes wafting downward,
To no particular spot.
Often I thought about you.
You see, time holds no chains to the heart.
The heart keeps itself locked up until ransomed is paid and is free to leave.
I saw you again, just as last year.
Got to see the reflection burning in your eyes,
Feel the warmth of the fire,
Smell the wafting ashes.
This time, it won't be a year.
The last thing I said was
"I'll see you soon."
This time, I mean it
