A Poor Girl

Richard Botts III
5-2-2003

I often wonder why
This mere child thinks she hates it all
Death on the mind
She must be so blind
I feel for her
So sweet and innocent
That was before but now she carries so much hate
Why, she has it all
The clothes, food, the shelter
But no she thinks everywhere but here is better
Little does she know what dangers are a head
Only if she has escaped
Lucky for her
Lucky for me
A mere ten seconds would have set her free
I would have missed her
And she would have been off on her dangerous journey
With so many false hopes
And not so good friends
These friends so tragic
Only using her to get back at her older brother
The others so angry and dumb
They led this poor girl astray
She is going to have to leave now
Off to her dads
We tried to warn her
We tried to help her
But it looks like the only way is to live with her father
Her mom hurries home from work
To check and see if her daughter is truly ok
She must realize some where in her child like mind
That she couldn't get away
And that she loves us with all her heart
Why oh why does she try so hard
To get so far apart
She just keeps screaming
"I hate you, I hate you, I hope you die"
I cannot lie I just kept saying "I love you, I love you"
She must have known she really couldn't have gotten away
Because she tried to run away from my side
She took off in what seemed a slow and leisure stride
I caught her and brought her safely home
Now it really is time for her to pack up
Because she will have to go soon
She cries now saying it was a mistake
The only mistake was her own
She tried to run away from her kind and loving home
