How to Write a Formal, Expository Paragraph

Step 1 Topic Sentence: In a single sentence, include the author, the title
of the work, your statement (is...),
and
3 divisions of proof (because....)
Step 2 State your first division of proof.
Introduce your first quote.
Insert your first quote.
Pay
close attention to punctuation - and remember, double quotes from a selected
passage become singles. Add the page number within parenthesis at the end of
the quote, before the period.
Clarify and explain why the quote is important to your main
idea (This quote shows...)
Step 3 Repeat Step 2 for your second quote
Step 4 Repeat Step 2 for your third quote
Step 5 Conclusion: Wrap up your ideas and take your statement one step further.
