Storm
Thunder booms and lightning strikes
Rain whips the earth
Trees sway like reeds
In the river that plummets to the ground
Terrible beauty, I watch in the dark
But I know I am safe
As I see the world disappear
In the heaven-born torrent
Light arrives, unexpected
Gone in an instant
But its memory lingers
Imprinted on my eyes
Awestruck, I listen, look
Feel the air crackle around me
One with the drumming of the storm
And the beating of my heart.
