THE UNDERTOW

I was caught by the undertow
my life's course shimmying, meandering,
moving along an undulating path with no purpose.
I was floating in the tide
and moving according to the tide's dances surrounding me,
rather than my own whims.

Except, when there was you;
Then the dragon in me kicked and screamed
and tore free easily from the tide,
with purpose, with motivation, and with care.
