SWING

Tires Squeal
the world swirls
my life swings on a tether
and I grin at the moon.

I'm having a hard time
keeping my life in the balance.

Jack Kerouac didn't have responsibility,
scum of the earth.
It's hard to fight with a nemesis
who's already dead
because adrenaline fills your veins
but the only way to battle him
is on pen and paper.

Last line was originally "is to confine yourself to paper (and pen, or pen and paper)"

Beginning stanza is inspired by a bike accident, but only as a metaphor for crashing in life.
The world swirls is vertigo.
My life swings on a tether has a double meaning for "my life" (the metaphorical accident one, and the literal one which is the concept and not the noun).
