MY IDEA OF ROMANCE

My idea of romance

is kneeling before you...
to fix a flat tire when we are on the way to Indiana.

...Is standing up again...
after bending down to get the laundry by the dryer.

Is sitting down next to you...
when you are sick in bed, and feeding you soup
while pressing a cool cloth to your head.

...is kissing you
not because you're hurt,
but just because I want to.

...is having kids with you
not because of the process leading to them,
but because of the eudaemonia of having them.

...is bringing you flowers
not because I relish killing flowers,
but because I believe in some traditions.
