I HEAR YOUR VOICE EVERY NIGHT

I hear your voice every night,
even when I'm on the dance-floor slow dancing
with my arms around another woman.
My full attention is on her,
but my subconscious must hear your voice
because it doesn't feel right.
A part of me must hear your voice
saying "I love you," from a thousand years ago,
with your smile, your nose, the mirth shining on your teeth
and your cheeks swelling with happiness.
Don't you see?
It's not your kisses that I miss,
it's your happiness,
from being with me,
the light in your face
that made me smile.

inspired by "words you say" song by Moody blues (performance at Royal Albert Hall) after listening to about 20 minutes of Moody blues after Burke McKay mentioned them.
