Unreal Beauty There was something in the way A silver pegasus flew today In morning's first splendor. She cleaved the dawn And, after a moment, was gone, With a flutter of wings and gray legs slender. I was standing on the ground, and looked Up a shimmering, shining brook, To see her flying. Silver-eyed, with hoofs of brass, She drifted, golden-winged, above the grass. She seemed to be trying To proclaim, that queen of mammals, That not all animals Were things we normally saw. But, after all, who cares? It was wonderful to see a pegasus in the air, In defiance of Man's reality laws.
