Megan's Poetry Page

Included on this page are several poems that I've written over the years.

untitled

mixed emotion

trembling chaos

still i marvel at the beauty of your face

true your heart is

filled with such reason

that i hesitate to

give you my embrace

it is fair that i care so much about one small touch?

let's compare -- is it better to never love if you might lose?

two spirits' fusion

clouding my vision

someone tell me how it's

possible to fail

lend me faith and

lend me your prayers

as i forsake all desire

and don this veil

is it clear that i'm motivated by hope and not by fear?

not a tear will run down my face for it's faith i choose

Amazing Grace

The majesty of overpow'ring sunshine meets my face

In shadow 'neath the treetops where I stand

When Daybreak rides her chariot o'er the mountain's highest place,

Extending now her golden dewdrop hand.

When Beauty overtakes me I am down upon my knees,

Breathing in the misty air so sweet.

Serenity then pulls me in and leaves my heart at ease

Upon its smooth and wonderful receipt.

I notice silver moonlight as it streams across my eyes

And settles down against tomorrow's trail.

Before to sleep I wander I allow my gaze to rise

For diamonds lighting Heaven's gentle veil.

I dream of violet clouds that fill the skies with glory new,

Of laughter fallen from the turquoise creek--

A thousand perfect wonders, each a different shape and hue,

'Till overwhelmed by Grace I cannot speak.

Touched By An Angel

In the fiery sunset of Day's end,

A golden angel unto me did descend.

Upon the clouds he carried Light

With power as would slay the dark of Night.

He addressed me in song so Heavenly sweet

That my pretense fell into swift retreat.

So when at once my breath returned,

I felt Joy for which my soul had yearned.

A Joy indescribable by words alone,

Inside my heart, forever sewn.

Why God sent me an angel is unknown to me,

But my heart he has captured

Since Love thus set it free.

Justice & Revenge

For all eternity,

Either of two battling opponents

Will come out triumphant over every crisis.

The victors will be soldiers for Justice

Or cowards wishing Revenge.

Between the two enemies lies this simple difference:

Revenge is naught but a chain reaction,

In its expansion of anger never ceasing.

Justice takes aim to penalize the immoral,

Ever armed with integrity and intentions fair.

People often try to disguise Revenge

In hopes that it may be passed off as Justice,

For a guilty heart endorsing filthy Revenge

Would not wish to give the act a name so foul.

A less harsh title may help the mind,

Yet still not the soul,

To Justify its hateful cause.

Even in this miserable case,

Justice has been attempted.

Mistaken Freedom

I know I love you,

Yet this my mind opposes.

My heart is in the prison

That lies beyond your passionate eyes.

Trapped am I,

That I may see the sun---

The rays of your returned compassion

Coming through the bars of my cell.

But, alas! You too are trapped,

And thus I can not get to you,

Nor can I comfort you in your wait for escape.

Yes, you are trapped,

Left in misery.

You can not find your own acceptance,

Yet you have already been accepted,

And loved, too.

I promise that when

I escape my prison of unrequited love,

I will find the key to release us

Unto our Mistaken Freedom.

The key is the realization of your own acceptance---

The key to free us both.

Helplessly Loving An Angel

Through goods times and through trials some,

How impatient hath my heart become!

---Always requesting a moment spared

For pure reciprocated care

That circumstance would not my heart break

From what must have been my own mistake

---Ever wishing a soft reply

From an angel that was made to fly.

Fool was I to this wish condone;

An angel can be bound to Heaven alone---

Not to mortals like I

Who are weak, who tears cry,

A mortal passion will an angel never satisfy.

No Greater Love

A single belief has set me free--

Christ has redeemed eternity.

He triumphed over lies and pain,

That I may live where God doth reign.

Christ bought my soul with His own death;

For my salvation,

He gave His last breath.

Now Heaven's gates are open wide,

Inviting me to come inside.

Because of God's unconditional love,

I might one day join Christ above.

He died that I might see Heaven's bliss;

I know there is no greater love than this.

Light

What clothes the morning in celestial grace

And brings color to the land

Near the ocean, its enchanting lace

Takes rest upon the sand

What pours through watery prisms clear

When rain takes o'er the sky

Ever with darkness to interfere

And bring beauty ever so nigh

What shone inside the eyes of Christ

What opens hearts today

What perfect gift will bring you life

And always with you stay

Misunderstanding to Wisdom

Misunderstanding daily occurs

When someone an incorrect meaning infers

And effortlessly it enters the mind

'Till false truth is all that the victim can find

It can drive us to madness, Bring to life our worst fears,

Or drown us in sadness with our own human tears

But sometimes in Irony's ocean Hope lives

And a wave to Escape amid Pain it then gives

Until we are swept to Renewal's clean shores

To see with new eyes what lies beyond Wisdom's doors

His Eyes Are Prisms

His eyes are prisms.

He sees in vibrant colors expressed

From the very soul within.

So sensitive to Light is He

That forgiven are dark impurities

Which cloud the rays of Light

Shining in every human heart.

In a world of glass

His faith is steel,

Unshattered by evil that assails Him daily.

He came to earth as a common man

And is no stranger to Life's pain.

Even still, He maintains an Unconditional Love

Which evokes in me the belief

That He watches us through prisms.

My Past to Future

Rain descends to Earth

As I lift my gaze over a foreign horizon.

A sudden gust carries me to the clouds---

I adjust my eyes to the bright silence of Memory.

Across my mind dance Laughter and her friends,

Until they are met by Impatience and Hopelessness.

Success and Significance then take the stage,

Only moments ere I fall through the air

To Reality on the ground below.

Though the horizon I see remains strange and unknown,

I alight upon Tomorrow's wings

For a closer glance

That I may see the Waves of Change approaching me.

Many are there,

Though be their strength magnificent or subtle

I can not tell.

Quickly they approach, Building in me an inexplicable joy.

Another wind sweeps me aloft,

And I find myself once again amid clouds.

My eyes seem to need little adjusting here,

For the sight on which they rest is clear and tranquil.

I encounter my own Dreams,

Echoes from the Future that I have not yet heard.

My ears strain to hear the melody of Change,

The constant rhythm of Opportunity,

The comforting harmony of Kindness.

I return to the ground with my hands thrown to the sky,

Praying that the Waves I see in the distance

Will cleanse me in their revitalizing waters

And bring to life

A symphony of my Dreams.

Spellbound

Your eyes are of crepuscular splendor.

Sparkling diamonds bring light to dance

Upon their surface in rejoice of your laughter.

Your smile pours sweet sugar over my senses;

A rush of elation surges through my spirit.

Your voice melts my reason and lightens my heart,

Every word you speak bringing me tranquil serenity.

Your presence is intoxicating---

I am by you spellbound;

A joyful prisoner to my own heart

Do I live enchanted.

Te Adoro

Tus ojos oscuros me ponen loca

Me capturan con facilidad

En tus brazos hay una paz tan llena

Me das nueva libertad

Mi corazón está en tus manos

Tu voz me trae alegría

Quiero perderme en tus besos ricos

Y estar contigo cada día

Te adoro, ángel mío

Dios te ha mandado a mí

Y te he adorado

Desde el momento que te vi

Sonnet # 1

Come, flatter me with compliments untamed,

Ingratiating comments to outpour

Of heartless love you still stand unashamed,

Such sacrilege I’ll tolerate no more

Still better, lend me poetry to hold

But know that here no amateur am I;

The game of words is easy to unfold,

Sincerity still seems in short supply

No, sing to me; suspend your soul in air

Still ringing to prolong hints of your voice

And I perhaps will turn, albeit rare,

To see he for whom my heart doth rejoice

Touch not my lips, for fever takes control

A dangerous passion freed to take its toll

Intrepid Angel

Two pure rays of sunlight

Slay my every fear,

Sabotage the night

-

I reflect in your eyes

But I am not alone;

These mirrors are far too bright

-

With silent echoes from your soul

I at last find peace--

The sky may fall and time may cease

But broken, I'm made whole...

-

Though depth, and height, and distance

Interfere sans care

I'm cured in just a glance

-

An hourglass without sand

Stands before me now

So much time to dance

-

Unwritten riddles fill your mind

I'll solve them with my prayer--

That heaven might prevent despair

And keep my heart unblind...

-

At your feet

I stand at the top of the world

Your words lend me wings

Intrepid angel
