TAB REQUESTS NOTICE
Topic: Tab Requests

A notice to inform people that tab requests have been discontinued.

Doing a full tab properly takes somewhere in the area of ten hours. It requires a few nights (3-5 depending on length and difficulty) to do the tab itself, then more time to enter it into the computer, do a thorough check on it, and get it posted. Over forty of the tabs on this site have been done by specific request from various site visitors, representing some 400+ hours of my time doing songs others have asked for.

But a post I made on the site blog awhile back revealed (over a period of time) that not one site visitor had two minutes (or less) of time to give back. A particular link wasn't clicked on even one single time. No time, no interest.

This discrepancy led to a reassessment of my own time management, and ultimately to the decision to end tab requests.

I just found your site and page today - actually an hour ago.  I am about to try one of your tabs.  I would like to say that I do appreciate the time and effort you have put into building this site and tabs you have written.  The site looks very professional.  We all know that this music thing does consume a significant amount of our time.  Its people like you that help us learn and get better at our music - I appreciate that.  Sorry, you feel a little frustrated but always remember - you are helping many people.  If there is something you need that I can help you with - let me know and I might be able to share something....  I hope you have a great 2012! Cheers!

Hi Pitbull,

Thanks for the kind words. I should clarify that I don't feel at all unappreciated for the tab work that I do here. Anyone who has ever asked me to tab a specific song has always followed up with an e-mail to thank me for it, once the tab has been posted. People are great that way. In the Dec. 30 post I made, I was referring to another blog post I made awhile back, which took awhile to write and included a link to an uploaded mp3.

In doing the site, and spending a lot of time doing specific requests, you just tend to hope that you're maybe building up a bit of good will with the people who visit the site...enough so that at least 1 or 2 people might take the time to click on such a link, and have a listen (whether it be for the full two minutes or even just for a few seconds). My site stats give me an idea of how many views the blog gets, and those same stats showed me that that link didn't get a single click from anyone who viewed the blog (over a period of weeks).

I'll be working away on the site the same as I always have. It's likely that most people won't notice any difference at all.

Thanks for the good new year's wishes, Pitbull, and I hope you have a great 2012, as well! Smile

Hey Anne,

Not here for a tab request, don't worry! :-)  I just want to say thanks.  I think I first found a tab you did around 10 years ago,  at least I definitely recall the zerofret handle you use!  I believe it may have been April Wine's "Say Hello" and you were the only one in the world it seems that had ever done it.

So, from one guitarist to another, all I can probably offer is a copy of the Sign of a Gypsy Queen tab I spent an entire evening working into Power Tab format.  If you don't already have a satisfactory tab I will definitely go out of my way to load it into powertab somehow, export to text, and email it your way.  I did it around 2006 as well, was pretty happy with it, though thinking back I know the melodic arpeggio'd clean part that goes through verses could be more accurate ;)  Pretty sure the solo is dead on!  Cheers Anne, Happy 2016!
