I feel somewhat obligated to comment on Battlestar Galactica, even though I've never watched the new show. However, I watched the original series religiously when I was about 14.
Hi Manny. ("Manny Festo"...good one.
) No need to feel obligated to comment on BSG. Off topic is fine with me. Interesting to hear, though, that you watched the orginal show...back when Toasters really looked liked toasters and Starbuck really looked like...a man. (haha)
But my point is this: Great site. I searched and searched for "It'll Chew You Up and Spit You Out," and I ended up here. I love Concrete Blonde and and saw them at least twice in the early 90's. But I was listening to that early record this week, and decided to for the tab to that song. Personally, I like that version better than "Still in Hollywood."
Thanks!
Glad you like the site. And I'm glad you were able to finally find what you were looking for here, too. Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a tab for "It'll Chew You Up" on any other site. I used to have it posted on one of the larger tab sites (The Tab World), but that site had its tabs shut down. It's probably one of the easier tabs I've done, because having tabbed "Still In Hollywood" already, I just had to add in the different solo guitar parts. It's a great song...either version!
I never had the pleasure of seeing Concrete Blonde live, but I wish I had. That first record of theirs is not only my favourite CB record, but one of my all-time favourite records by any band. The Napolitano/Mankey chemistry is great. Her vocals have so much character, and his guitar style is truly unique, he's got a very distinctive sound and style.
You have an interesting mix of songs and bands in your tab collection, however, I notice one band that your Canadian section is sorely lacking:
RUSH!
Oh, I don't think doing Rush tabs would be wise. See, I read a good piece of advice recently that said, "Rushing leads to mistakes". So no "Rush-ing" here.
(Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Yes, I had a look at your blog.)
This surely is just an oversight, since you include both Max Webster and Kim Mitchell. Max Webster used to open for Rush. I know I saw them as the opening act on the Moving Pictures tour. So I'm sure you must be working on some Rush tabs, even as we speak.
Okay, seriously this time. The lack of Rush isn't really an oversight. I've always been very aware that one of the biggest of Canadian bands doesn't have a single tab on this site. The main reason for that is because I know Rush tabs are being well-covered elsewhere. There are lots of Rush tabs on lots of guitar sites, while some Canadian bands don't have any tabs at all out there. So for me, when it comes down to debating with myself whether the world needs the 15th tab version of "Closer To the Heart", or say, the first tab of Harlequin's "I Did It For Love", Harlequin is likely to win out.
That doesn't mean I haven't considered doing Rush songs, though. A Canadian page just should have some Rush on it, shouldn't it? Unfortunately, most of my old Rush vinyl (and I had plenty) has never been replaced on CD. To date, I've only re-bought A Farewell To Kings. Several months ago, though, I did buy a couple of Rush songs from a download site with an eye toward doing a Rush tab or two. I picked up two of my Rush favourites, "Circumstances" and "Vital Signs". So maybe I'll do one of those two...if I can. Or maybe "In the Mood". Or...well, something. (I have a feeling Rush tabs could be hard.
Can't hurt to try, though.)
Keep up the good work.
Will do. Thanks again!
Oh, I just remembered. Rush actually plays on Max Webster's "Battle Scar", so technically, there is some Rush on the site.
