TAB REQUESTS
Topic: Tab Requests

It was suggested in the comments section a few days ago that adding a Tab Requests section to the site would be good, so I've now done that. This blog post is where requests can be made. There are two ways to come directly to this post:

1. From the blog page - Click on the Tab Requests link on the right hand side of this page.
2. From the website - Click on the Tab Requests link on the Home Page.

 Anyone who has a tab request can add it in the comments section of this post. I'll post in the comments section to let you know if I can do the tab.


A few comments about tab requests:

A person will only make a tab request if they reasonably think I can do the tab. So I'd suggest having a look at some of the other tabs on the site to judge the quality of them for yourself. Then if you'd like to make a request, post away right here.

Anyone who wants to can make a tab request. The Comments section on this blog is set so that anyone can post a comment. Of course, I'm always available by e-mail for anyone who would prefer to make a request that way. There's an e-mail link on the Home Page of the site, and it's also listed at the top of every tab.

Whether or not I can do a tab by request depends on a few things. I hate having to say that I can't do a tab if someone asks me to, but there are reasons why it's sometimes not possible. The most common reason is that I don't have a copy of the song. I have to have a song on CD to be able to tab it. I can't work from tapes (anymore), because most of my tape recorders have bitten the dust on me. I can't tab a song directly from a soundfile or video on a website (eg. YouTube) because my computer set-up is in too small a space to be able to work right at the computer with my guitar. If I can find the song on either of the pay-per-track sites I'm registered at (Bonfire and PureTracks) I can get a copy that way. But much always depends on whether or not I can get the song.

Of course, it also depends on simply whether I'm able to do the tab or not. If I have the song, I can guarantee that I'll try to do it, but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to.

I don't expect that I'll get that many tab requests, but for anyone who would like to make one, this provides an easy way to do it. Don't hesitate to ask if there's a song you'd like to see tabbed.

Yes, I should be able to have a go at some of the songs you mentioned. (Not all at once, of course.) Since you asked for "The Party" twice, I'm guessing that's the one you're most interested in? It has some pretty tough soloing, I'm not sure I can do all of that, but I'll do the best I can. It's one I've considered trying before, so maybe now's a good time. It won't be right away, since there's another request in line ahead of it, but I''ll try to get to it soon.

Hi Anne, I was trying to request a tab by clicking on the link and it didn't take me anywhere to input it. Not sure if it was working properly. There is some guitar work in the Headpins song Breakdown that I find hard to hear what it is. Wondering if you can put that on the list. I can get the main riff but the other guitar work is a little frustrating.....thanks for your ear. Have a great day

Hi Darren,

I tested the Tab Request links (the one on the site Home Page, and the one on the blog side menu). Both seem to be working. They're supposed to bring you to this page, then you just leave your request the same way you'd leave a blog comment. So...looks like it worked. Smile

I had to check to see if I have the song. I actually only have their Greatest Hits on CD now, so I wasn't sure if I'd have it. There's a song on there called "Breakin' Down". Is that the one? I checked, and they don't seem to have a song called "Breakdown", so I'm guessing this is the one. I'll give it a listen. Is there a particular part you're referring to, the verse or the Chorus, or just all of it in general beyond the main riff? Hey, I've heard your work, if you can't figure it out I'm not sure I'll be able to do much with it. Laughing But I'll give it a spin and see.

That is the one in question. I have the link here to the song on you tube. The part is between 1:00 and 1:33 seconds of the song. It kinda sounds easy but just can't visualize the part. It sounds like almost one chord and struming a couple strings from low to high. Hard to explain in text. It will make more sense when you hear it. I will probably kick myself when I find out how easy it is to play.lol. Just one of those things. "How Long", good mellow tune with a nice groove. Unfortunately, I don't have the song on CD, and (as I've talked to you about) I don't have a working CD burner right now. Frown So it might be another one I'll have to keep in mind, but can't do right now.

Hi ydnar,

"Let Go the Line", one of my all time favourite Max songs!

So, of course, you know I would have tabbed it already if it weren't for some problem. Undecided Smile And you're right on the money...it's that main guitar riff. It's three part harmony, and really difficult to follow where each line goes. I have a partially done tab of that song that I started quite awhile ago. Most of the song isn't too difficult, it's just disentangling all those lines in the main riff that presents a problem.

On YouTube, there was a video of Terry Watkinson's band doing the song, and the guitar riff was reduced to two part harmony...easier to follow. I had considered working off of that once. Maybe the video's still there.  

But since I now know there's interest in a tab of that song, I'll pull the partially done tab back out and have another go at it. Thanks for the request!

I found your website through GOOGLE as I searched for "Switchin' to Glide" tabs. Your tab is spot on and I've enjoyed many others on your site.

A similarly structured song as STG with a killer beat is 1980's "My Mistake" by the Kingbees, out of Toronto. I'm sure you have heard this rollicking CCR tinged rocker and it's the subject of my tab request to you.

I'm not in the possession of the special talent it takes to produce a tab and believe me I've tried! Thanks again for considering my request and for your efforts on previously tabbed songs.
