1979-1983

During this period the Miami Hurricanes began to emerge as a national powerhouse. The team won the National Championship during the 1983 season


1984-1988

The Miami Hurricanes during the 1985 was within striking distance of the National Championship but lost to Tennessee. The 1986 season saw the Canes amass an almost perfect record until they lost to Penn State in the national championship game. The Canes also had a number one ranking during this season for fifteen weeks. However the team had payback on their minds during the 1987 season. The Canes decimated opponents during this season to win the national championship. The team amassed a 12-0 record defeating Oklahoma in the national championship game 20-14. The Canes during the 1988 season had a winning record until they were defeated by Notre Dame 31-30


1989-1994

The Hurricanes in 1989 won their third national championship. The team won their third national championship in seven seasons. The team defeated Alabama in the Sugar Bowl 33-25. The 1990 season saw the Hurricanes finish with a 10-2 record. During the 1991 season the Canes again won the National Championship. The Canes finished 12-0. However from 1992-1994 the Canes fell on hard times. The Hurricanes amassed 9-3 records during these seasons


1995-2000

The Canes during the 1995 season finished with a 8-3 record. The team during the 1996 season played in another bowl game. However the 1997 season was not kind to Miami. The Hurricanes were decimated offensively by opponents. The team finished the season 5-6. This was the Canes worst record in 40 years. The Hurricanes eventually bouned back from this season finishing 9-3 the next season. The next season the Canes again amassed a winning record finishing 9-4. Miami during the 2000 season was again a national power. The team's record during this season was 11-1.


2001-2006

The Canes during the 2001 season was one of the best teams ever assembled. This season was easy for the Canes as they won the National Championship game against Nebraska. The Canes finished the regular season undefeated. The Canes however lost to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. The 2003 season saw the Canes finish 11-2. The 2004-2006 season saw the Canes amass a 25-12 record.
