This image of a 1940 theatrical production at the YMCA's Camp Frank A. Day is an example of the many historic photographs that the archives maintains. The Archives collects, preserves and exhibits historic photographs, documents,records, emphemora and artifacts associated with all aspects of the West Suburban YMCA from its beginning in 1877 to the present.



News and Events

An Exhibition: "Camp YMCA: A Photographic Profile" opened at the West Suburban YMCA on January 16, 2006. This exhibition traces the history of summer youth camps from 1885 by the YMCA to the present, with special emphasis on Camp Frank A. Day and Camp Chickami, both owned by the West Suburban YMCA. YMCA's are now the longest continuous operators of camping by any organization in the Unitied States. Camp Frank A. Day recently completed its 90th year and Camp Chickami its 60th year. The exhibition includes historic photographs and images from the Kautz Family YMCA Archives at the University of Minnesota, the Northeastern University Archives and the West Suburban YMCA Archives.
