*1st.Ride: After asking Rick about the day this is what he emailed. ...Ok, on very short notice, I arranged this ride. Fortunately I was dealing with family blood. They all came and then some. My two buddies I invited did not come(cold as hell, can't make it, blah, blah, blah) non family blood. Ya see, as Aunt Terry says, if anyone in "this" family says their going to do something, It's as good as done! Anyway, here's how the day went. JohnN. met me over my house at 8 a.m. Him and I went over to Louigi's in Farmington for breakfast and caught up on things. From there we left to go over to Uncle Maurices Aunt Donna's house. Everyone else was there waiting to greet us, kind of like we were coming home from the armed services for the first time. Even Rocky was there waiting anxiously with his camera. Shortly after arriving, Rockelle, Rocky's daughter and Zack her husband arrived. We were all smiles and happy greeting eachother. Then we lined up the bikes in front of Uncle Maurice's garage and Rocky took the pictures. We talked a little about safe riding before we headed out. John only rode for a short time before he headed back home for some other plans he had going. The rest of us just rode out in the country roads, went to Elizabeth park in Trenton, which I never heard of before that day, which must have been a peninsula south of Trenton on the Detroit river with a spectacular view of Gross Isle. There we stopped for a Polish hot dog and some chat. Boy was it cold there right on the water, wind blowing. From there we went over to Larry's mansion for a bathroom break since it was right on the way. Then we headed over to Jim's house to check out his 1942 Harley Davidson Flathead. We all were in awe over this old machine. I wish I had taken some pictures, darnit all, I just was in such awe that I forgot about grabbing the camera. We were trying to speculate if it were put on Ebay, what it would go for. $30-50,000.00, $100,000.00??? Anyhow, it's not for sale, it's a piece of history for Jim because it was his dad's intention to redo it before he passed so Jim ended up going back down to Florida, picked up the pieces, brought them back to Michigan and finished the task to bring this legend back to life!!! After that we pretty much called it a day. If it weren't for the weather, we would've rode even more. Ronnie and his son Ronnie . didn't get enough so they continued on riding. I had a blast! It was such a great feeling riding with cousins that I haven't been in touch with for a while, meeting Ronnie and Larry's sons, ronnie and larry I think for the first time. We will definitely keep this going, we're planning again this weekend, hopefully the weather will cooperate and we are talking about riding out towards Tecumseh area, maybe stop at a nice restaurant for lunch, get to know each other better. I love these guys!!! Rick (sept.2006)
*2nd. Ride: It was Danny, Ronnie, Jim, and myself riding this time accompanied by Little Danny and Roxanne in their truck. We headed out M-50 to Hidden Lakes Gardens in Tipton. Danny and Roxanne were great hosts if you will. They brought their grill in the back of the truck and all kinds of food. We had a great time then off we went, headed back home, Danny, little Danny and Roxanne split off when they were close to home, Ronnie and I went over to Little Ronnies house. I met little Ronnies wife and kids, great bunch. Little Ronnie asked if he could ride my bike. I thought sure, I'd love to be able to hear it from behind. So I got on his Ultra Classic Electra Glide and followed behind him. We just went for a little ride up and down King Rd. Was I ever amazed at how loud my bike is from behind. Sorry guys about the noise I've been making you listen to. Didn't realize it was that obnoxious, LOL. Any way, I went home from there. We put about 160 miles in that day and the weather was nice. Thanx Danny and Roxanne for coming along and providing a delicious picnic! Rick (sept.16/06)
