~Daniel Maurice was born Friday, May 12, 1944 at mercy Hospital in Monroe, Mi. Monroe county. when I was two years old, I trotted the 2 and 1/2 miles to Flat Rock, Mi. Wayne county from my home with my dad holding my hand while I trotted to keep up. We went every where together. I also was trained in the art of boxing from the age of two by my father until the age of 18 and only lost one sparring match to a friend of mine who's dad also trained him, and my dad never seen the match up, I told him about it latter, we went out of the sight of our fathers just to see who was the best, he was by far, it was a friendly fight, no knock out occurred, just me telling him he was the better. and we went about shooting some baskets, he was better at that too. In second grade, I received my first kiss by a girl that went crazy over me, don't know how she found me, because I was hiding under the porch of the Bennett, 2 room school house, where I attended first and second grades in Flat Rock, Mi. Wayne county, someone must have told her, because I could out run any guy at the school so I know she didn't see me crawling under there, any way she came crawling under the porch and planted a big wet kiss on my lips, but she seemed to lose interest by the time, I reached high school, and would have loved it to happen again, that kinda turned me off to talking to girls any more after that for a really long time I was afraid they would embarrass me in front of my friends. I always seemed to buddy up with kids that knew how to get into trouble. At the same school, a good friend of mine called Charlie, one night thought it would be fun to go inside the school, he'd been there and it was unlocked, so why not. I like to draw things even back then and went inside and I found the colored chalk, and began drawing on the chalk board while my friend found three dollars and put it in his pocket, and made a bit of a mess around the teachers desk, the next morning my dad got a call I didn't soon forget, but he got us out of the mess and I was no longer to play with Charlie. I always loved math and spelling, and in the fourth grade the teacher talked me into entering a spelling contest, I was now attending Huron elementary school in New Boston, Mi. Wayne county where I went on to quit high school in the 11th grade, I came in second place, a girl beat me out, further putting distance between me and the girls. I became very timid and shy around all the girls, but I had one still chasing me, her name was Tanya and lived a few houses from mine, at that time I was in the seventh grade and every time she would go to the corner store down from our house, she would stop in and beg me to walk with her, and well things were starting to change with me, and I kind of like it, we were never more then friends, and she moved with her parents, and after awhile, I kind of missed her really bad, and was able to get her new address, and I wrote her a letter letting her know how much I missed her, she wrote back sending me a pin with a basket ball going threw a hoop, and a picture of her new boyfriend, I never wrote back, feeling really shot down, I never did date any girls from my school. If your reading this looking for any achivement that may have been meaning full, besides my working for Ford Motor Company, in Woodhaven Mi. Wayne county, for 32 years before retiring in Aril 1st, 2002 where I took computer courses, Video courses, a presenter course, problem solver course, Quality control course, ISO 9000 courses, "International Organization for Standardization ". FTPM course, FTPM train the trainer course "Fords Total Productive Maintenance and Global 8D training, " Global-8D is a problem-solving methodology for product and process improvement. In return for all those courses I took, Ford took me off the floor for the last 15 yrs I spent there. leading Fords Quality teams in there meetings to better quality, and more productive work on the floor, also being one of their company representative, being sent to numerous Ford plants to help solve quality issue and make sure corrective action was taken. the last 2 years I spent as there in plant ISO 9000 auditor in the production system and aslo there health and safety system, along with my other duties. my greatest achievements in life, were the times at Bennett school, the first was the hour I spent with my tongue stuck to the flag pole one winter morning waiting for the school to open the doors, the other kids love that so much and were laughing a lot, while I was acting the part of a ham. The other, I never knew when to quit, I was the winner of everything I did, Yep I went for the win every time and still do, but this time in winning I carried my bike home in two pieces, I was about 8 then at the Bennett school after school hours, and we played who could ride their bike down the side walk to the door of the school as fast as we can, and who would be the last to hit the breaks, when I slammed into that door, I broke the forks and front wheel off my bike, but I went home the winner.
