They celebrated their 50th golden wedding anniversary on June 26 at the family home in Westland, the site of their outdoor wedding reception with their children and grandchildren. Chester was born in Belleville, MI and served in the National Guard, 146th infantry, Grayling, MI. He retired March1 of 1985 from General Motors in Livonia- michigan plant- after 30 years of commendable service, worked two jobs, both full and part time for many years to support his family. He played guitar for atleast 25 years in his spare time, teaching his children how to play as well. He has been provider and loving father to his four children. Rita was born in Detroit, gaduated from Wayne Memorial High School, Wayne MI in 1954, gave birth to four chldren, was a full time home maker and loving stay at home mother, also assisting with family owned businesses on occasion. She was an accomplished bowler for five years and played volleyball for five years as well in her spare time. ~Victoria Jean was born friday, May 13, 1955 at Beyer Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI Washtenaw County. She served on the safety patrol in elementary school, St. Mary school in Wayne, was a girl scout just long enough to sell the most cookies in her troop and served as class president for one year. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church Choir in high school and later the Dearborn Community Choir. She was also a member of the John Glenn Women's Choir for 3 years, served as assistant editor of the creative arts magazine in high school, was nationally published thru the National Library of Poetry and graduated as a merit student from John Glenn High School in Westland, 1973, later attending one term at the school of metaphysics in Ypsilanti. As a young adult she was a NOW (National Organization for Women) member, served as editor of a poetry column in an in-house newsletter, phone volunteer for pbs (Public Broadcasting System) Detroit, phone crisis counselor for the Westland Crisis Center, Westland day camp counselor, a volunteer Girl Scout leader for five years for the Huron Valley Girl Scouts and a volunteer big sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters Agency for ten years. She resided in Westland, MI of Wayne County until after 13 years of service with the Wayne County
Educational School System as a switchboard operator, technical secretary, then executive secretary she relocated to Lexington, MI of Sanilac County, moving into a new line of work in 92 with Photography Corporation of America - PCA International, as photographer and manager of the Port Huron studio, hitting the top sales position nationally out of 500 studios. She also participated in a juried photography exhibit with a photography entry at the Port Huron Museum of art and history, and became a member of the Black River Art Club and Lakeshore Garden club of Lexington. She married Gerald on the beach where they met in Lexington, MI on Dec 28, 1992 with a Unity Minister presiding, then later went part time offering transportation, gardening, home cleaning and caregiver services to the eldery, occasionally teaching adult leisure classes for the Croslex - Croswell/Lexington school district. She supported the United Fund for over ten years, Save the Whales Foundation, Children's International, PBS Detroit and the Michigan Humane Society.
Her husband Gerald Michael was born June 5, 1966 at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn of Wayne County. He served on the Safety Patrol in elementary school at Mount Caramel in Wyandotte, MI. and was also a cub scout, a boating enthusiast who built his own boat, with his fathers assistance at the age of twelve then became an oarsman on an accomplished rowing crew in both jr. high and high school, was a member of the computer club, cycling club, and took an independent astronomy course in his high school planetarium, graduating as an honor student and member of the National Honor Society at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wandotte, 1984. He resided in Farmington Hills before relocating to Lexington in January 92. In 1984 he participated in the Belle Isle annual bike marathon, biking 147 miles in a six hour period, maintaining an average speed of approximately 25 mph. He earned his commercial pilots license in 89 from Southeastern Flight Academy and became co-owner of an aircraft detailing company, Aeroshine LLC in 2001, also an independent contractor for an air/ground freight expediting company. He supported the Michigan Animal Rescue League, PBS Detroit, and Greenpeace. Together they gave one dog, five cats, and six birds a good home on Main Street off Lakeshore Drive, just inside the village limits of Lexington, a small Michigan seaside tourist town along the shores of Lake Huron, Sanilac County.
