Director of Music, YCCA Director of Level 3 wind and jazz ensembles. Trumpet and wind instructor. Scott is a 1980 graduate of the Crane School of Music, earning his B.A. in Music education. Upon graduation, Scott was named director of the Crane Jazz Band 2 in the fall of 1980, a position he held for the 1980-81 school year. In addition to his duties at Crane, Scott also directed the Wind Ensemble at the prestigious Grenville Christian Academy in Brockville, Ontario. As a versatile performer, Scott has appeared with an extremely wide variety of artists from classical, jazz, popular and sacred music including Chuck Mangione, Jane Monheit, the Temptations, Audio Adrenaline, Joseph Martin and many, many others. Scott was a featured vocalist and trumpeter for a variety of Carnival and Norwegian cruise ships, including a stint as bandleader on NCL’s “Norway” in 1996. For the past fourteen years, Scott has been lead singer and trumpet for the regional powerhouse funk/horn band “Classified”, sharing the stage with such artists as Maynard Ferguson, Gap Mangione, Rare Earth, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Eddie Money and Earth, Wind and Fire. As an educator of 26 years, Scott has directed a myriad of professional and amateur ensembles including The St Peter’s School of Rome N.Y.’s Wind Ensemble from 1999-2003 where he guided the school to its first ever instrumental and choral music program, culminating in a 2003 Class A band championship at the Darien Lake festival in Buffalo, N.Y. In May of 2005, Scott led the YCCA Wind and Jazz Ensemble’s to dual grand championships at the Darien Lake Festival, the first for a non public ensemble in the festival’s history. Scott recently toured Europe with his adult choir from St. Joseph’s church in Lee Center where he serves as Director of Music. A spring 2008 tour of Ireland is being planned for the music ministry. Scott is the 2005 KEYS Music teacher of the Year. Scott’s plan for the YCCA is to continue to develop a world class facility training tomorrow’s gifted musicians and artists. |
