He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Lovington, Ill., to Elmer M. and Ella Mae Belk Creek. He married Elizabeth E. Binegar on Nov. 1, 1949, in Peoria, Ill.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Michael (Diane) Creek of Bartonville; one daughter, Denise E. (George) Goins of Pekin; one brother, Gene Creek of Mattoon; four grandsons, T.J. (Heidi) Goins of Belding, Mich., Rick Goins of Pekin, Michael (Leanne) Creek Jr. of O'Fallon, Mo., and Brad Creek of Bloomington; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Elmer served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He worked as a machinist for Caterpillar Inc. for 31 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974.
