Answers:
- Answer: Chekov's father's name is actually Bill, but the
family decided to forego the traditional Russian custom of using a patronymic as middle
name because Pavel Billovich Chekov just sounded too goofy.
- Chekov's brother is actually named Cooter. Yes, yes, we
learned in "Day of the Dove" that Chekov (except when under the influence of
malevolent non-corporeal alien presences) says he has no siblings, but trust me, if Cooter
Billovich Chekov was your brother, you'd claim to be an only child too.
[At this point, you may be beginning to understand why this is called the
"Nearly Impossible Mr. Chekov Trivia Game." We warned you it was going to be
hard. We just didn't warn you that we were going to cheat.]
- Answer: Unknown. In "Who Mourns for Adonis" he
says he's 22, but after he's lied about his brother and his father's name, are you really
going to trust him?
- Answer: Chekov's serial number is 656-EEEEK. Okay, okay,
it's really 656-5827B, but 656-EEEEK is how it comes out when he accidentally touches an
acid secreting flower while he's saying it.
- The redshirt would get it first. Chekov and McCoy must
love those guys. If there's not a security officer there, Chekov gets it. If neither
Chekov nor a redshirt is there, McCoy takes the pounding. This holds true in most ST:TOS
episodes -- with the notable exception of "The Apple" during which Spock seems
to be experiencing a triple critical biorhythms day.
- The cloaking dewice was inwented by the Russians, of
course! This is the "Mr. Chekov" Page. What the heck did you think we were going
to say?
Feeling Cheated? Okay, we give you one more chance with
the bonus question:
7. In the teaser for "Trouble with Tribbles,"
how was Chekov planning to finish the following sentence: "I remember once Peter the
Great had a problem just like this. He...."
Correct. Chekov actually planned to say, "I remember once Peter the Great had a
problem just like this. He solved it by fortuitously discovering that an fearsome
bloodthirsty warrior race was scared silly by cute little animals that looked like gerbils
with no heads."
It would have been a much shorter episode if he hadn't
been cut off, wouldn't it?
Scoring and Unsolicited Personality Analysis:
- 5 to 7 correct answers: You are an odd person with a
slippery grip on reality and a strange sense of humor. We like your kind here.
- 4 to 3 correct answers: Reality has too firm a grip on
you. Go attempt to predict plot twists in "Melrose Place" until it loosens.
- 2 to 0 correct answers: You know, the Nitpickers have their own homepage now...
