The report.... .....
JANUARY 2006... Checked the Weather on Seabreeze .com. and the conditions looked good for Friday 13th “black Friday” to you casket lovers.
Crew for the trip was a mate from Mackay that has never been offshore.
Departed the Scarborough harbour around 3.00 am and arrived at Combi by 4.00 am [photo 1.]
Chris was amazed at how big the swell was coming around the cape. Fishing conditions were some what sloppy during the day with a north/east wind around 10/12 kts.
Started fishing “spot x” with an A/J [photo 2]. Moved out to 120 mts to fish some ground given to me which we think maybe a wreck. The drift was quick and only had time for one drop each pass and first drop a snappa [photo 3]. Chris was not accustomed to fishing in this depth so I moved into shallow and anchored.
The results were nothing great but we did sit down to SMOKED a/j and battered snappa for tea..
Report by SNAPPA….
allways looking for crew
