(Video package showcasing the first round action of the Franchise Cup from last night's edition of Full Throttle rolls over the screen. Previews of tonight's first round matches are showcased, and then the video ends. Camera comes up in the arena, as Primetime Punisher is coming to the ring. Voiceover of Devin St. Jons picks up.)
(Devin St. Jons) Good evening everyone and welcome to PWR Overload! We're here in Fargo, North Dakota at the Fargodome, and what a slate of action we have for you! Ten, that's right ten big matches, all in the first round of the PWR Franchise Cup Tournament! First up is the PWR Pure Wrestling Champion, Primetime Punisher taking on Skullman. Let's hear some pre-recorded comments from the champ.
(Video rolls.)
(Primetime Punisher) This is the Eddie Guerrero Memorial Tournament. It doesn't matter who wins the tournament, but we're all here to remember a great wrestler and put on some of the best matches in his memory. That's what this tournament is about. With that said, I will be victorious because I do my best work in tournaments. You have to win 5 matches and it all starts with you Skullman. Skullman, you are a new challenge for me. I've never faced you before. You'll get an up close look at PTP and why you'll be just another victim for me. So do all of the scouting you want, but when the dust settles I will be the one that will bring it!
(Video ends.)
(Devin St. Jons) Well folks, this is definitely a big matchup for Skullman, he's got a mountain to climb, that's for sure. Can he do it? Let's get to our opening contest.
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - Classic Bracket
Primetime Punisher vs Skullman
PTP and Skullman hit the ring and came together with a lock up. PTP immediately went into his power game, and used that to keep Skullman off balance. PTP caught Skullman with a spear off the ropes at about the two-minute mark. PTP got a two count off that move. Skullman managed to fight back, and even managed to hit one of his trademark moves, the SKO and take PTP down. PTP kicked out of a pinning predicament after that move at about the three and a half minute mark. PTP turned the tide back with the counter off a backdrop into a neckbreaker at the five-minute mark. PTP then hit the afterburners and hit high gear as he readied to put Skullman away. PTP countered a hurricanrana attempt into the Primetime Executioner at just shy of the six and a half minute mark to pick up the three count and the victory.
Winner by pinfall at 6:28 - Primetime Punisher
(Devin St. Jons) PTP picks up the duke and he advances in the tournament. It looks like PTP was just too much for Skullman, and he drops to 0-2 since his PWR return. Up next, we have one of the toughest competitors in the International Division, Corporate Crusher, taking on the Delaware Beach Boy. This will be a tough task for DBB, but he has the tools to get the job done. I understand Crusher is standing by with our own Lizzie McFadden. Lizzie?
(Camera picks up backstage, where Lizzie is standing by with Corporate Crusher.)
(Lizzie McFadden) Thanks Devin. Joining me at this time, Corporate Crusher. Corp, tonight you take on the Delaware Beach Boy, a tough competitor. How do you go about defeating him and advancing in this tournament?
(Corporate Crusher) It's a very simple task. DBB, you got the short end of the straw in the draw for this tournament, because you will be taking on the single most dangerous competitor in this International Division, me. Corporate Crusher. Tonight, Beach Boy, you are in a world of trouble. Get ready for a hostile takeover.
(Crusher walks from frame as Lizzie stands there. Camera switches back to ringside and Devin.)
(Devin St. Jons) Crusher looks very focused on the task at hand, and I wouldn't want to be in DBB's shoes right now. Let's get to the ring for our first International Division contest of the night.
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - International Bracket
Corporate Crusher vs Delaware Beach Boy
Crusher came out looking ready and it showed when the bell rang in this contest. Crusher took an early advantage in this contest, and whipped DBB into the ropes and hit a brutal sidewalk slam. DBB managed to fight back and hit some moves. DBB made it an interesting match for a couple of minutes, but in the end, Crusher hit his devastating running lariat and picked up the 1, 2, 3!
Winner by pinfall at 6:54 - Corporate Crusher
(Devin St. Jons) Corporate Crusher seemed just too much for the Beach Boy, and he picks up the win. Crusher onto round two. Up next, we have a New Blood vs. The Circle matchup, as Shane Meadows will take on "The Big Bull" Christopher Paige. Right now, I understand we have comments from Shane Meadows.
(Camera takes us backstage, to Shane Meadows, who is standing by in front of a PWR banner backdrop.)
(Shane Meadows) I'm going to make this short and sweet. I'm winning the Franchise Cup. Enough said. I will choke out any son of a bitch who dares step in the way. I am The Degenerate, and when I say it, you better believe it, because it's as good as done.
(Camera heads back into the arena, and to Devin.)
(Devin St. Jons) Short and sweet indeed from Mr. Meadows. He looks ready to get back on track, let's get to the action! New Blood and The Circle clash!
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - Classic Bracket
"The Degenerate" Shane Meadows vs "The Big Bull" Christopher M. Paige
This match had a lot of anticipation in the lead up, being that we would see a squaring off of The New Blood vs. The Circle of the Black Thorn, but it was a quicker match than we might have thought. Paige came out like a house of fire, throwing punches and kicks, in an attempt to wear Meadows down. Paige hit the Rage Breaker on Meadows in the second minute for a two count. Paige picks Meadows up again, and put him on his shoulders, to go for the Paige Turner, but Meadows countered out and landed on his feet. Meadows put a kick into the midsection of Paige and dropped Paige with a pedigree! Meadows didn't let up on the throttle after that, as he eventually locked on the Katahajime and got the tap out at just shy of the five-minute mark.
Winner by submission at 4:48 - "The Degenerate" Shane Meadows
(Devin St. Jons) Shane Meadows defends the name of The New Blood as he defeats The Circle's Christopher M. Paige. I guarantee, after the events last night on Full Throttle, this isn't going to make the members of The Circle any happier. We need to take a commercial break; we'll be right back with Jacques Couteau taking on the debuting Greggs!
:::COMMERCIAL BREAK:::
(Devin St. Jons) Welcome back to Overload! Back to the International Bracket and Jacques Couteau taking on the newcomer, Greggs! To the action!
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - International Bracket
Jacques Couteau vs Greggs (PWR Debut)
Couteau makes his entrance, then Greggs makes his way to the ring. Greggs is a former competitor in the 2KW organization, and he has a reign as the 2KW International Champion under his belt as well, so he has credentials. The bell rings and they lock up. Greggs countered into a belly-to-belly suplex right off the bat! Greggs imposed his strong style attack on Couteau, eventually leading into a spinebuster off the ropes at around the three-minute mark. Greggs got a two count off that and pulled Couteau to his feet. Greggs sent Couteau into the ropes and went for a clothesline, but Couteau ducked it and came off the ropes himself with a springboard and hit a bulldog! Couteau worked to keep Greggs off balance with his speed game, and eventually hit his tornado DDT at about the seven-minute mark. Couteau got a two count off that. The tide turned for the final time, when Greggs got the knees up on Couteau's attempt at a Swanton bomb and hit the Greggsplex to pick up the upset win at just shy of the nine-minute mark.
Winner by pinfall at 8:57 - Greggs
(Devin St. Jons) Greggs picks up a huge win in his PWR debut and he sends Couteau home from the tournament early! This is a big upset in my opinion! Couteau is a threat every time he steps into the ring, and tonight Greggs just had his number. What a big win for Greggs and he'll move on to round two. Up next, let's hear some comments from one half of the PWR International Tag Team Champions, Michael Cook.
(Camera flips backstage to Lizzie McFadden, who is standing by backstage with Michael Cook.)
(Lizzie McFadden) My guest at this time is one half of the brand new PWR International Tag Team Champions, Michael Cook. Mike, we just saw one of your former 2KW constituents, Greggs pick up a win in his PWR debut, just as you did in your first match at The Border Battle. Is there anything to the successes that the former superstars from 2KW are having in PWR?
(Michael Cook) Well, 2KW was a very competitive place to be. You look at some of the guys here who were in 2KW, Nick Davis, Terrell Yelder, myself, Greggs, all turning out to be very successful. It was a breeding ground for stars.
(Lizzie McFadden) Tonight, you compete in the first round of the Franchise Cup, against Andrew Stratton. What's the outcome going to be tonight?
(Michael Cook) I continue my winning ways here in PWR, when I take down Andrew Stratton.
(Lizzie McFadden) To the point, Cook is ready, back to you Devin.
(Camera flips back to ringside.)
(Devin St. Jons) Well, Cook is ready, but is Stratton? We'll see, let's get down to the action!
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - International Bracket
Michael Cook vs Andrew Stratton
This was an interesting and very close matchup. Cook and Stratton took to the ring and engaged in one of the more entertaining matches of the night. Stratton and Cook locked up and Stratton the advantage hitting a headlock take over. Stratton countered into a side headlock and wrenched down. Stratton stayed in control over the next several minutes, and worked on the neck of Cook, eventually hitting the Cradle Shock for a two count. Stratton attempted to hit the Stratton Driver, but a backdrop by Cook countered it. Cook takes Stratton into the corner, and begins to work him over. Multiple right hands and kicks from Cook, leads him into a thrust kick, that connects for a two count. Cook continues his assault and hits a diamond cutter for a two count. Stratton turned the tide back, and countered the DVD into a Pele kick from the backside! Stratton turned that into a two count. The road to the finish came down to Cook missing a leg lariat, and Stratton countered that into a northern lights suplex, and then he headed to the top rope, leapt off and hit the Stratton Splash. Stratton hooked the leg and got the three count at just over ten minutes.
Winner by pinfall at 10:17 - Andrew Stratton
(Devin St. Jons) And just like that, Andrew Stratton hands Mike Cook his first loss here in PWR. What a close match it was, those two went back and forth, toe to toe. Would like to see that one again one day. Right now, let's head backstage to comments from Scott Kage.
(Camera takes us backstage, to Scott Kage who's standing by.)
(Scott Kage) First thing's first. Tonight, I have to take on a member of the New Blood, Landon Kaine. Landon, no offense and I welcome you to the brotherhood. But tonight, you're standing in the way of my destiny. That takes me over to what happened last night on Full Throttle. Mavick, my congratulations go out to you. They really do. But now, you become the most wanted man in PWR. You have something everyone wants, including me. The World Heavyweight Championship. A few weeks back, the referee decided to call a disqualification against me, when I had you beat. You know it, and I know it. All the people out there know it. At the Border Battle, I put your buddy, MJM and three of her people through a table, by my damn self! What I am trying to tell you Mavick and the rest of The Circle, I've got your number. When the time comes for me, whether it be from winning this tournament or not, I will get a title shot and when I do, the record books will say the NEW PWR WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, SCOTT KAGE. Mavick, you're on notice. I'm coming for you.
(Camera goes back into the arena, where Devin is standing by.)
(Devin St. Jons) Well, Kage looks ready folks. He is another one of those dark horses in this tournament. He can win it if everything comes together for him. Can he be victorious here tonight? Let's find out as we head up to the ring!
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - Classic Bracket
Landon Kaine vs Scott Kage
The New Blood exploded tonight but not because of discord but because of the luck of the draw. Before the bell, Kaine and Kage shake hands in a show of respect. The bell sounds and the battle of the New Blood begins. Kage and Kaine put on a wrestling clinic, neither man wanting to take the easy way out of this match. Both men showing the whole wrestling world that not only are they a part of the future of this business but they are showing what it takes to be "The Franchise" of a company. After about 5 minutes of catch-as-catch can wrestling, the big moves come out. Kaine connected with a huge powerbomb only for a two count. Kaine quickly followed it up with a tilt-a-whirl slam for another two. Kaine continued on the attack by setting to the air and leaping off with a missile dropkick but Kage dodged it! The aerial maneuver was more harm than help for Kaine as Kage saw the advantage he needed Kage pulled Kaine up and took him over with a huge german suplex! Kage bridged but only got two! Kage got up and pulled Kaine up with him. Kage hooked Kaine in a front facelock and dropped him with a DDT, going for the lateral press, but only got two. The finish came at 7:19 when a number of reversals were scored. Kage went for the Superkick but Kaine ducked it and hoisted Kage up for a DVD! Kage spun out and went for a crucifix pin but Kaine rolled through. Both men got up to their feet and Kage finally scored with a huge Superkick, followed by the 1-2-3!
Winner by pinfall at 7:19 - Scott Kage
(Devin St. Jons) What a display by two of the young studs in this business? That was such a good match but we still have three more left on tap. Right now, let's get to some pre-recorded comments from Flash!
(Footage starts to roll.)
(Flash) Cruncher, Mary-Jane Montez, Primetime Punisher, Zanyon and now Mavick. All five have been PWR World Champion. One name off that list is mine and the Eddie Guerrero Memorial Cup will kill two birds with one stone. I will get my chance at the PWR World Championship and I become the Franchise. Craven, be warned. You are only victim one.
(Devin St. Jons) Flash claims to be on a quest but can Craven stop him dead in his tracks? Let's head on to the ring.
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - Classic Bracket
Flash vs Chris Craven
Both men have some history with one another which could lead to some hot and heavy action in the ring. Flash and Craven wasted no time going to punches. They beat each across the ring. Flash goes for the first near fall after a fisherman's suplex but only scored a two-count. Flash pulled Craven up to his feet and takes Craven over with a half-nelson suplex, only scoring two again. Flash pulled craven up to his feet and goes for a Brainbuster. Craven reversed it and dropped Flash with a neckbreaker. Craven went for the cover, but only got two! Craven pulled Flash up and went for a Craven DDT but Flash reversed it into a Northern Lights Suplex! Flash bridged and got a 2 and 7/8ths. The finish came at 8:42, when Flash went for the Falcon Arrow, Craven rolled off the back and hooked the leg with a school boy for the shocking 1-2-3!
Winner by pinfall at 8:42 - Chris Craven
(Devin St. Jons) That's one of the bigger upsets I've seen in awhile! Chris Craven, obviously the underdog, picks up the HUGE win against Flash, and for now, it seems his dream to be champion is on hold. Right now
in some more first round action, we have Doug Bares making his PWR debut again Terrell Yelder. Let's get right down to the ring!
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - International Bracket
"The Saviour" Terrell Yelder vs Doug Bares (PWR Debut)
When you read the web report for this match, you might as well be able to read this: "The bell rang and then the bell rang." Just as soon as the opening bell sounded, Doug Bares was off like a shot, starting to go to work on the veteran. Bares backed Terrell off the ropes and whipped him across. Terrell reversed it and that was all! Terrell caught Bares with the Temple Kick and Terrell made the pin fall at 1:56 for his advancement into the second round!
Winner by pinfall at 1:56 - "The Saviour" Terrell Yelder
(Devin St. Jons) Terrell Yelder not working by the hour here tonight, as he puts Bares away very handily. Terrell moves onto the second round. We'll be right back with more action for the International Bracket!
:::COMMERCIAL BREAK:::
(Devin St. Jons) Marcus K. Yelder could make history at the end of this tournament, if he chose to go for the World Championship, can he do it? He's got to get past Matt Flash first! Let's head to the ring!
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - International Bracket
Marcus K. Yelder vs Matt Flash
As Flash enters the ring, Marcus jumps on top of him before the bell even begins to ring. Wild throws by Marcus, and Flash is trying to cover up. It seems the champ is refusing to let anyone win this tournament, so no one can get a shot at him! Marcus picks Flash up and backs him into the ropes. He whips him off, Flash runs forward bouncing off the ropes, he comes back at Marcus who bends over and then lifts Flash into the air letting him hit the mat. What a nice back body drop by Marcus. Marcus begins to stomp Flash to keep him down on the mat. Marcus reaches down and lifts up Matt. Matt pops up and shoves Marcus back. Marcus takes a step forward into a SUPERKICK! Marcus stalls for a second then fall back to the mat. Matt covers, 1

KICKOUT! Matt gets up lifting Marcus. He sends a few shots to Marcus' midsection and then whips Marcus into the corner. Matt charges forward and hits Marcus with a powerful clothesline. Matt keeps Marcus in the corner and lifts him up to the top rope and sets him there. He then climbs up to the top rope with Marcus and begins to pound away at him. Marcus fights back though and low blows Matt, shoving him off the top rope. Marcus slowly stands on the top rope, and then comes off with a 5 Star Frog Splash! He stays on top of Matt for the cover, 1

Winner by pinfall at 11:20 - Marcus K. Yelder
(Devin St. Jons) A pretty Five Star Frog Splash by Marcus K. Yelder, and he advances in a hard fought contest. MKY into round two, and up next is our main event. These two bitter rivals by the luck of the draw, are first round opponents. Shane Montez and Shane Donovan, one more time! Let's get to the ring!
:::::MAIN EVENT:::::
2007 PWR Eddie Guerrero Memorial Franchise Cup Tournament First Round Match - Classic Bracket
Shane Montez vs Shane Donovan
A lot of back and forth action early to start the match. Donovan takes the early advantage with a series of punches and kicks to Montez. Montez falls to the mat and rolls out of the ring to avoid anymore contact for the moment. He stumbles around the ring then stops to take a few breaths. He looks in the ring to find Donovan not there. Shane turns and looks behind him and Donovan is coming at him! Montez begins to run and we have the classic game of cat chasing mouse around the ring. Montez slides in and Donovan follows in after. Montez drops an elbow across the back of Donovan's head. He reaches down and lifts Donovan up to his feet now. A few forearms to the face, then Montez hooks Donovan, lifting him up and over for a suplex! Montez goes for the quick cover 1

kickout by Donovan. Not being able to win with the pin, Montez wastes no time, he then quickly locks in the Montez Lock on Donovan. Donovan begins to fight it, refusing to tap to the Montez Lock. He slowly begins to crawl to the ropes. He is now just inches away. Donovan's arm drops to the mat as if he is fading. The ref comes over and checks by lifting his arm in the air, it drops to the mat. "One", the ref yells out for everyone to hear. The ref lifts Donovan's arm again and drops it and it hits the mat again. "Two", the ref yells again. The ref grabs Donovan's arm and lifts it for a third time. He lets go and Donovan keeps his arm in the air! The crowd goes nuts knowing the match continues. Donovan's eyes widen, one powerful lunge forward and he grabs onto the bottom rope! The ref has Montez break the hold. Montez gets up and looks down at Donovan. A smirk comes across his face. He exits the ring and heads over to the timekeepers' table. What could Montez be planning? He forces the timekeeper out of the chair and grabs the steel chair and folds it up. He slides into the ring. He gets to his feet and stalks Donovan. Donovan stays down on the mat. The ref yells at Montez as he stalks Donovan. Donovan stays on the mat. Montez gets angry and throws the chair down. He walks over to Donovan and grabs him by his head lifting him up. Donovan then surprises him by popping up, grabbing Montez, lifting him into the air and slamming him down with an altered version of The Mark! Donovan now gets up to his feet and begins to feel a rush going through him, you can say. He plays the hot crowd for a second. Donovan reaches down and grabs Montez by his head. He lifts him up to his feet. Donovan then hooks him and lifts him up, dropping back and turning slightly Donovan hits Montez with The E.N.D!!! That's all she wrote! Donovan covers Montez, 1
2
NO!! NO!! MONTEZ KICKS OUT! Donovan's eyes widen as he looks up at the ref. The ref yells "two" out to Donovan and the crowd. Donovan grabs his head and gets to his feet. He takes a few steps back and waits for Montez to get up to his feet. Montez slowly rises to his feet and turns around to face Donovan. Donovan charges and attempts a powerful looking clothesline, which Montez ducks. Donovan turns around and Montez lifts Donovan onto his shoulders and quickly drops him with the Montez Driver! Montez then drops down next to Donovan on the mat and locks in the Montez Lock again! Donovan tries to fight it yet again, he comes close to the ropes but it was just too much for him tonight. Donovan ends up tapping and this match is over!
Winner by submission at 9:50 - Shane Montez
(Devin St. Jons) Shane Montez gets the victory with the Montez Lock, and what a win it is! Donovan suffers a heartbreaking loss, and now is out of the tournament! Fans, we're out of time! Goodnight from Fargo!
