Part 2 "The Birth of Primetime" As the week continues on everyone waits in anticipation for there next glimpse of “Primetime” Paul Roberts. Having to be subjected to seeming endless bor-athons from “The Beast”, the so-called Universal Champion, is just plain wrong. Sadly not much has happened to Paul Roberts in the past few days. Nothing news worthy, nothing worthy of being added to UWF-TV at least not yet anyway, Roberts is set to make a live guest host appearance on the show “So you think you can act?” ,a reality show produced by Roberts production company “Planet Primetime Productions”, later today so everyone can get there fix of “Primetime” then. But as “The Beast” rambles on and on and on about nothing, and the others well must have nothing to say, we will continue to take a look back in time at the greatest who ever lived.
As the scene opens we see an older Paul Roberts, still not yet “Primetime” but on his way. Following his fathers death he Roberts moved from the small town he was growing up in, and moved in with his mother. Roberts’ parents divorced when he was young, and his father got custody of him because his mother was seen as unfit to be a parent, but has since cleaned up her act. She however is rarely around due to long working hours and travel time to work. So Roberts from here on out pretty much raised himself. Roberts is no longer the shy awkward looking kid who did not know who he was, he is seen in the locker room of a football team strapping on his pads. Paul is the backup quarterback of the football team now, and has gained a great deal of self-confidence. The camera pans around and the starting quarterback can be seen shoving younger players and hazing the underclassmen. Another player comes over fully suited up and sits down next to Paul, and it is none other than the man who would become Paul’s PR assistant and manager later in life, Chad “The Truth” Monie. Chad: Hey Paul, you think your gonna get in the game tonight? Roberts: Hey Truth, you know I don’t know but I can tell that the guy who is suppose to be our leader is busy playing grab ass and not getting his head in the game. I am ready if coach needs me. Chad: Your better than him anyway Paul, you should be starting. Roberts: Well its not my call. The scene transitions to the game later that night and Roberts team is getting beat 14-0 by halftime. The team heads into the locker room and the coach begins to verbally rip into the team, especially getting after the starting quarterback, Rex Taylor. Coach: You need to stop blaming everyone else Rex and lead this team! Rex Taylor: Its not my fault coach no one can win with this bunch of losers! Chad, who is also a starter on the team elbows Roberts signaling him to speak up. Roberts: I can. Roberts says so the whole locker room can hear. Rex Taylor: What was that Roberts? Roberts: I said I can win with these losers! Rex Taylor: Well that’s great….NOW SIT DOWN AND KNOW YOUR PLACE BACKUP! Roberts: Coach? The coach stands, hands on hips, thinking about what to do and then makes a decision. Coach: Alright Roberts, you want a shot? Your in, but don’t make me regret this. Rex Taylor: You have got to be kidding coach. Coach: Hit the showers Rex! The coach spouts off at Taylor as he walks out of the locker room, Roberts straps on his helmet and leads the team out. By the final Roberts had lead his team to a 48-14 victory in dominating fashion. As the team circles around the coach following the game he asks Roberts to join him. Coach: Boys what you witnessed today was a boy becoming a man, this young man has greatness in his blood and he has proven it tonight out there on that field. Son, I know your father would be proud of you. Roberts cuts a confident yet cocky smile that would become a staple of who he is today as the seeds continue to be planted in his life throughout high school Roberts becomes known as the man who can do no wrong, lettering in every sport there was and becoming the lead in every drama play they did during his high school career. It was his strength has an actor that would propel him into acting later in life. In fact it was the day of graduation that Roberts told Monie what he planned to do. Monie and Roberts graduated the same year, Roberts, whose mother was out at work yet again was unable to makes his graduation, or prepare any kind of graduation party for him, so Roberts spent his post graduation time at Monie’s party. Roberts and Monie are standing off in the distance drinking the “punch” that they prepared for this party, talking about life and what the future holds. Roberts: I am telling you man tomorrow I am getting out of this town. Chad: Tomorrow? Don’t you think that is taking things a little fast? Roberts: A wise man once told me that the only people brave enough to chase there dreams are the ones that catch them, now I need to get out of this town and catch my dream. Chad: Well were is it that your going and what dream are you chasing? Roberts: I’m going to Hollywood man, I love acting and before long your going to see me in some big budget films. Chad: Really? Have you given any thought as to how your going to get selected for these big budget films? Or money on how your going to get to Hollywood? Roberts: I will figure that out on the way, if you spend all of your time planning stuff never gets done. So I am just going and it isn’t like there is anyone here who even wants me to stay. Chad: Hey, I’m sorry about your Mom man, but you need to think clearly. Roberts: I know man, I’m thinking clear, I have never been more clear. I am heading out tomorrow morning and nothing is going to stop greatness from shining on Hollywood. Chad: You see it is that sort of stuff that is going to get your ass kicked right to the curb in Hollywood, you are going to need someone to run Public Relations. So I am coming with you, and thank you for asking me dude. Roberts: Didn’t have to I knew you were coming all along. Roberts says with a cocky smile. Just as Roberts said the very next day the two left there high school homes and headed out for Hollywood California. The Hollywood sign was the most beautiful thing that Roberts had ever seen. ![]() But things did not go as smoothly as Roberts would have hoped, he first auditioned for the part of “Beck” in the movie “The Rundown” but was turned down for the part because he was an unknown actor and had no foreseeable attraction to the audience. Director: Sorry buddy but your just not ready. Roberts: Come on Man! Take a look at greatness over here! Who are you going to sign to do this part? The Rock or something? Roberts said sarcastically, sadly though the Director did not find it humorous and Roberts began a long streak of being turned down for films most times it was Roberts sticking his foot in his mouth that would end his chances of staring in a movie. Director: Well, you have talent but I just don’t think you are right for the part of Danny Ocean, maybe I can find something for you in the supporting cast. Roberts: Supporting cast??? You have got to be kidding me! There is not an actor out there the talent that I have! You have to- Chad: Paul just let me handle it. Director: On second thought I don’t think I have anything for you after all. Chad: Come on surely you can give us something. Director: Maybe your friend can be a lead star in some made for TV movies. Here is a list of directors I know that may be looking for unknown leading men. Chad takes the list from the man and comes over and shows Paul. At first Roberts is disgusted at the thought of staring in low budget films that no one would want to watch but Monie eventually convinces him that he has to start somewhere much like how he had to start as backup quarter-back back in high school. Roberts agrees and they go see a new casting director about the production of “After Dark”. Roberts lands the leading role but the movie is poorly received, but the nice thing about TV movies is that people have short memories. So it wasn’t long before he was staring in his twelfth primetime TV movie. Following the great ratings victory of “Till the End”, the third movie in a three part series Roberts is enjoying a large compensation package and a large recognition as one of the most well known TV actors on TV. The scene transitions to Paul’s Hollywood home were he still today holds residence. There is a knock at the door on what looks like a rainy day in Hollywood. Roberts goes and answers the door and it is Chad at the door. Chad: Paul, great news! Roberts: What’s up Truth? Chad: Check this out! Chad holds up the latest issue of TV Guide with a picture of Paul Roberts on the cover. The headline reads “ “Primetime” Paul Roberts, the story behind TV’s king of primetime!” Primetime: The king of primetime…. Roberts smiles happily and nods. Primetime: You know what Chad, you having me do those TV movies was the best thing that ever happened to me, those big budget Hollywood movie buffs are going to beg me to do there movies and it will never happen. You are looking at “Primetime” Paul Roberts, Chad, I am the King of Primetime. A few days later…
The phone rings in Roberts house…
Ring…
Ring…
Ring…
Roberts answers the phone and on the other line it is the man that Roberts would later have a lot of history with then WCF owner, Trevor Ulmer. Primetime: Primetime speaking. Trev: Yes, Mr. Roberts this is Trevor Ulmer I was just looking over the latest issue of TV Guide. Primetime: Yes? Trev: Well I must say the ratings that you are generating are impressive. And I would like to have you be a part of my wrestling company, the World Championship Federation…. The look on Roberts face is one of intrigue, but as we know the rest is history, Roberts would join the WCF, become the National Champion in only his seventh professional match, and the World/Undisputed Champion in only his eleventh professional match. Roberts has excelled at everything he has done in life and the UWF will be no different. The Words of Wisdom that Roberts father bestowed upon him on his death bed sparked the complete change in attitude for Roberts, it propelled him to become the greatest ever, and not even some paper champion like “The Beast” can touch that. Bobby Bishop can talk all he wants but nothing that so called “Good ‘ol County boy” has done will ever touch what Roberts was and has become. This Sunday at Heat Wave the UWF will experience the excellence that is “Primetime” Paul Roberts. No one has ever out performed Paul Roberts, ever. And this Sunday will be no different, at Heat Wave the Universal Champion will fall to the King of Kings and there is nothing that Bobby “The Beast” Bishop can do about it.
