The scene opens inside of a nice family dinning restaurant. As the camera pans around we see Chad Monie sitting at a table all by himself. A waitress brings over some bacon and eggs and hash browns and sets it down at the table filling up his cup of coffee. The crowd of people in the restaurant is pretty large for a breakfast rush but not one person seems to be bothering Chad Monie. Perhaps it is because Paul Roberts does not happen to be with him at the moment, maybe it is out of respect that they don’t want to bother the celebrities manager while he is eating who knows.
As Chad begins to eat his breakfast you are left to wonder. What has happened to Paul Roberts? What is his reaction to being stabbed in the back by his partner last week? Has the self proclaimed greatest wrestler alive, been affected by his first loss in the UWF? And how is he preparing for his next match, the Universal Championship match at the Pay-Per-View Redemption in two weeks? As those questions bounce around in your head Chad takes a look at his watch noticing the time and his cell phone rings.
As he looks down the camera turns and you can see the caller ID says “Bridget”. Paul’s on again off again girlfriend and close friend to the social group that Paul hangs around with. Bridget used to come along as moral support on the road during Paul’s tenure in the WCF, but Roberts saw her as just getting in the way and asked her to stay back from now on. Which lead to a falling out between the two, they have since rekindled there romance but Roberts demanding road schedule and arrogant attitude has caused problems between the two. Chad picks up the phone and answers it. Chad: Hey Bridge. Bridget: Chad, how are you doing? Chad: Oh, as well as I can be I guess considering the circumstances. Bridget: Paul got pinned last week. Chad: Yeah, those are the circumstances. Chad says with a chuckle in his voice. Bridget: Is he with you right now? He wont return my phone calls. Chad: Actually no, I am having the same problem you are having. He hasn’t spoken to me since he got pinned at Heat Wave. Bridget: Oh, I am sure he talked to you backstage and stuff afterwards. Chad: Nope, actually I tried to talk business with him, and he just stared off. Angry as hell at what happened, I tried to talk to him as a friend and there was no change. He just sat there and stared off at the wall for a long time following the show. Pretty much everyone had cleared out of the arena and he was still there in his gear. He never said a word, not one. Bridget: It’s just one loss, I don’t understand it isn’t like he hasn’t lost before. Chad: No, but it is a rarity. And he had been out for almost a year. But I don’t think it was the loss that bothered him all that much, I think it was the fact that that good for nothing Champion pinned him. Facts are I never believed last week that Paul could win that match on his own, but when I was there next to the ring watching it, he had me believing he could. And he would have too if his own partner would not have stabbed him in the back. Bridget: That’s his problem always trying to prove to everyone that he can do everything by himself! Chad: That’s just who he is, you have to get used to it, it kind of comes with the territory when you decide to run with him. He is a lone wolf, a guy who doesn’t believe he needs anyone; sometimes you just have to be there for him even if he thinks he does not need you. Bridget: I don’t know how you do it Chad. Chad: Do what? Chad asks as he takes a bite of hash browns. Bridget: Run by his side all the time, taking all of his abuse and listening to all of the junk that comes out of his mouth. Sometimes I think I love him, but then he will go on and on about how the most important thing is his life is that stupid belt and— Chad: That’s just how Paul is. He sticks his foot in his mouth all the time and never realizes it. Paul and I have been friends for a long, long time and let me tell you he wasn’t always that way. But the more things he succeeded at the worse it got. He never realized it but there was always someone there supporting him, he never did any of that stuff completely on his own. But try to tell him that and he will go off on you and tell you to leave he doesn’t need you. You just have to know what you can and can not say to him. He will call when he is ready you just have to let him make the choice. Bridget: I don’t understand what the big deal is it is just a match! Chad: Its not just a match to Paul, it is his life, from what I understand about him, failure is not acceptable and a loss no matter how meaningless it was is still a failure. Paul looks to find things in every loss he has to explain why it happened rather than just letting it go and moving on. Every loss digs at him, especially those he knew should not have happened. I and I have to go with Paul on this one, last Sunday at Heat Wave he was better than Bishop and Creed together and he should have won. The one thing he didn’t count on was his partner turning on him and costing him the match. If Smash just would have not shown up he would have been fine, in fact that’s what he was counting on all week, but when he showed up he left his guard down and Smash cost him that match against “The Beast”. Now he has been pinned by the one man he has no respect for professionally. And that is a mark he does not want on his record. Bridget: I understand that, but what I just don’t understand is it's just ONE match and it was a tag team match! As I understand it you guys have two weeks to prepare for the Pay-Per-View right? Chad: Yeah, boss gave the roster this week off from Heat Wave, he never booked a show. Bridget: Well then he will win his precious title at the Pay-Per-View and everything will be better right? Chad: Probably, in fact we will probably hear from him before then back to his old self again. He knows that title is coming with him after Redemption, Bishop is no where near his level, and this time there will be no Al Smash or anyone else to stop him from hitting the Virtebreaker on Bobby. Bridget: So why doesn’t he call?? Chad: You just have to understand who Paul is… Chad says with a laugh, not bothered at all by Paul’s absence over the past few days. Chad: He will call, and when he does he will be ready to move on to the Pay-Per-View, in fact this is great now he can focus just on the match on April 13th and not have some mean nothing match in between to worry about. Bridget: UGH! He can be so pig headed sometimes! Chad: That is for sure. But let me tell you one thing, if you truly care about Paul, then you need to love him for who he is and not try and change him he is and will always be “Primetime” that is just how it is, and you have to accept that. Bridget: I know, I know. Chad finishes his breakfast and takes a sip of coffee. Suddenly his phone begins to vibrate, he pulls it from his ear and the screen reads “Paul”. Chad: Hey Bridge, I need to let you go I have another call. Bridget: Okay, call me if you talk to Paul. Chad: Will do. Chad says with a smile as he hits he send button answering his call from “Primetime” Chad: Hey…. Primetime: Chad….Its time we get together and talk some business… Chad just smiles and nods his head as he speaks into the phone, what he says is inaudible as the camera backs away from Monie. As “The Beast” enjoys his tainted victory over “Primetime” Paul Roberts the clock starts ticking…ticking to the end….the end is coming…coming very soon…..
