"Primetime's" Legacy

WCF: World Championship Federation

”Primetime” wins first match in 12 seconds
Paul Roberts arrived in the WCF looking for competition; unfortunately he did not find it in his first match. On Roberts first appearance on WCF TV he asked Chad who he was facing for the title in the WCF’s first week back. Unfortunately for him he found out that he was indeed not in the main event, but the opening bout. Roberts felt disrespected by this citing his flawless undefeated record, Chad had to remind Roberts that an undefeated record means very little when you have never had a match. Roberts went on to guarantee victory over his opponent Dradian. When the match came Dradian landed one punch and then Roberts landed the Virtebreaker, and in 12 seconds Roberts had the victory that he wanted so badly, and in dominant fashion. The 12 second victory would go on to be the quickest win in WCF history for quite some time until Master C beat his time with five seconds months later. Following the win Roberts held a victory party as if he had just won the World Title, Roberts proclaimed he was the greatest ever, being the only man in the history of the business who had never EVER lost a single match. Never mind that he had only had one match.

The Search for Jeremy Sterling
The week following the 12 second victory over Dradian saw Roberts again searching for his opponent for the week. For days Roberts awaited a response from his opponent who was the hardcore champion in another fed, with no word. So Roberts held a search party for Jeremy Sterling, culminating with him finding “him” at hotel weight room. However the man they found was just merely a skinny kid in a Jeremy Sterling t-shirt. Roberts shook his hand and declared that he only wanted a good competitive match at Hangover, then….he hooked him for the Virtebreaker and flung him into the wall length mirror. Bloodying the young kid as “Primetime” stood over him declaring victory over Jeremy Sterling. This must have angered Sterling because it didn’t take him long to appear with a response. However Roberts would again go on to victory and defeat Jeremy Sterling, further ballooning his ego.

Primetime vs Rederick
After Roberts defeated Jeremy Sterling “Primetime” finally got his first taste of competition. It would also mark Roberts first taste of the main event. It would be against Hall of Fame wrestler Rederick, a man who mirrored Roberts dominance since the doors opened in the WCF. Roberts was undefeated and unchallenged, with lack luster stars who didn’t put up a fight. Rederick was defeating main event stars every week, it was the first true test of Roberts, and he must have taken Rederick by surprise because with a little help from the bottom rope Roberts pinned Rederick for a three count, knocking off the big man and remaining undefeated. Rederick was shocked and Roberts arrogance continued.

Primetime vs Rederick II: The Rematch
Following Roberts upset victory over Rederick, WCF president Trevor Ulmer decided that the controversy from last week needed some closure; and the match defiantly deserved a rematch. Roberts knowing how lucky he got the week before decided to form an alliance with a fellow star Dean Phoenix. Phoenix was going to watch his back and come in to help if Roberts deemed necessary. As the rematch went on Roberts again held his own against the big man, however Roberts found himself in a bad position near the 10 minute mark, Rederick delivered a kick to the midsection and lifted Roberts for the jackknife power bomb. But before Rederick could deliver the final blow to end Roberts undefeated streak, Dean Phoenix came in and interfered in the match disqualifying Roberts. Officially Roberts first loss came against Rederick but a DQ loss is nothing, and Rederick never would pin Roberts or force him to submit.

Battle of the Egos: Primetime vs Xey Valentine
After Roberts short lived feud with Rederick, there was only one man who was officially still undefeated and he was Xey Valentine the man who wore the World Championship the last time the WCF was open. This was the main event match at Hangover and Xey like Roberts before him had not yet been challenged by any of his competition. The war between Xey and Paul could have been one to main event a Pay-Per-View the war of words was as heated as it could have possibly been. At one point both Roberts and Valentine guaranteed victory over the other. When the match finally came to pass it was the closest match till that time between two men, at the finish of the match Roberts hooked Valentine for the Virtebreaker lifting him into the air Xey somehow twisted in mid air and landed with the Overdrive, but landing awkwardly. When the move had finished both men were laid out, and Valentine just happened to fall on top of Roberts. The three count was inevitable and Roberts had his first taste of defeat at the hands of Xey Valentine. However “Primetime” proved that Xey was not invincible and it was believed by many Roberts gained more respect and experience in the loss than Xey gained from the win. In fact the win over Roberts would be Xey Valentine’s last match under that name. He then changed his name to Rene Valentine and became more or less a jobber in the federation, never again showing his face on WCF TV.

Two Battle Royals to determine the Contenders for the National and World Titles
At the End of Hangover President Trevor Ulmer came out with both titles on his shoulders, announcing that next week there would be two battle royals to determine the contenders to the championships. The winner of the first battle royal would be in the World Title match at Genesis, and the runner up would be in the National Title match at Genesis, the same rules would determine there opponents from the second battle royal. The first battle royal would come down to Rederick and Master C, with the final seeing Rederick powerbomb Master C over the top rope to determine that Rederick would be one half of the main event at Genesis and Master C would be in the National Title match. The second battle royal saw Derreck Schaefer and Paul Roberts as the final two participants in the battle royal. Schaefer and Roberts would both be out on the apron at the end of the match; Schaefer would suplex Roberts off of the apron onto the floor with Roberts feet hitting just seconds before Schaefer’s. Declaring Schaefer the other half of the World title match and Roberts the second half of the National Title match.

Genesis begins with controversy
As Genesis kicked off Roberts manager Chad “The Truth” Monie would enter the presidents office proclaiming that Roberts should be in the main event that night at Genesis. President Ulmer just kind of shrugged it off, but Monie offered proof on video tape. Trevor decided to entertain Chad and allowed him to make his case. The video tape showed that at the end of the battle royal the week before Roberts when he was hit to the outside apron would go through the ropes and not over the top, so Roberts was never eligible for elimination. So by rule Roberts should have won the battle royal the week before. Intrigued by Monie’s claim he decides to offer up a proposition. Because the main event had already been advertised he was not going to change or add Roberts into the match. But what he did offer was Roberts the first title shot following Genesis. However should he win the National Title that night Roberts would first have to vacate the championship and any history of ever winning it. Not to mention if Roberts did not win the World title he would not get another title shot for six months.

Paul Roberts wins the National Championship
As Genesis continued Roberts would go on face Master C for the National Championship. After defeating Master C, Paul Roberts had a difficult decision to make, vacate the championship and his win from the record books so he could get a shot at the World title or keep the first championship his career would see.

Primetime answers President Ulmer
After winning the National Title Roberts was all too willing to give up the belt for a world title match. However after discussing it with Chad, Roberts took a long hard look at the prize he had just won and prepared to give his answer to the president. Roberts would show up at a non-televised WCF house show, WCF-TV cameras were there to capture what Roberts had to say. Primetime arrived with a briefcase that he claimed contained the official papers he needed to sign to vacate the championship, and get his shot at the world title that he rightfully deserved. Surprisingly though Roberts would open the brief case to reveal that it did not contain the contract but the National Championship belt. He then told Trev that he can take his offer and shove it, he was not letting go of the National Title, he did it once and could again earn another shot at the world title, he could not keep him away from the belt forever.

President Ulmer declares Paul Roberts the number one contender
Throughout the weeks to come, President Ulmer was searching for a new number one contender to new World Champion Derreck Schaefer. During this time Primetime, in his vignettes, would try to strategically position himself as the only viable contender to the World Title. Rederick had just been defeated, Valentine was out of the federation at the time competing in some tournament, and everyone else had either already been defeated by Schaefer or had just joined the federation. No one on the roster had a win loss record as impressive as Roberts, and technically Roberts had already defeated Schaefer once before. President Ulmer was given no choice but to declare Roberts the number one contender for the world title, regardless of the fact that Primetime turned down Ulmer’s offer to vacate the title.

Champion vs Champion at Golden Opportunity
It was the National Champion vs the World Champion at the Pay-Per-View Golden Opportunity, which saw a two match card. The Golden Opportunity battle royal to decide the man who would face the world champion at Texas Massacre and the World title match Paul Roberts vs Derreck Schaefer. Sadly during the course of the week it had been revealed that win lose or draw this would be Schaefer’s last match in the WCF. But that didn’t slow Roberts down, he staged a major media propaganda strike against Schaefer the week of the Pay-Per-View. Trying any way he could to humiliate and ruin the champion’s reputation before the Pay-Per-View only to have to response from Schaefer. In an attempt to yet again keep Roberts away from the title President Ulmer declared himself the special referee for the title match. Roberts would still overcome all the odds stacked against him to win the World Title and become the first and only Undisputed National and World Heavyweight Champion in the WCF’s history.

Undisputed Champion no more
As a show of power from the President, who for some reason, always wanted to knock Roberts down a notch, officially ended Roberts rein as Undisputed Champion. Vacating the National Championship and ending Roberts National Title rein having never been beaten for the title. Roberts would remain the World Champion and his greatest challenge had begun, for NEWF Hall of Fame wrestler Mike “DDay” Carnage won the Golden Opportunity battle royal and made it his mission to end Primetime’s world title rein only after one month.

Match of the Year at Texas Massacre
Throughout the course of the week before the Pay-Per-View, WCF-TV saw the most activity it ever had, with both Roberts and Carnage making ten appearances that week. When the Pay-Per-View arrived there really was nothing left to be said. If Roberts vs Valentine was the battle of the egos, then Primetime vs DDay was the battle of the super egos. Carnage would continue to argue that Roberts was not on his level and the reason no one respected him as a viable world champion was because he hadn’t beaten anyone worth while. Roberts would counter with he had defeated man after man week after week, and he still could not seem to get the respect he deserved. Stating that if he had to beat everyone in the federation, than that’s exactly what he will do, until the only one left was him. The match was a ladder match to imply that which ever man had enough to go up and reach for the title would be the champion. The battle continued on for 73 minutes and 57 seconds, when Paul Roberts threw Carnage off of the ladder and reached up and grabbed his championship. The match would later be voted match of the year by the roster of the WCF. To view Texas Massacre click HERE

WCF goes on hiatus
Just two short weeks after Paul Roberts defeated Hall of Famer Mike Carnage the WCF ceased operations, and Roberts having never been defeated for the World Title took the belt with him to another federation. His intention was to represent the WCF and as its champion as a form of free advertising. Paul Roberts would later arrive in DSW.

DSW:Deep South Wrestling

DSW and WCF share rights to the WCF brand World Title
Following Roberts arrival in DSW he brokered a deal between the WCF and DSW to share the exclusive rights to the WCF World Heavyweight Championship. The WCF would allow the DSW to officially sanction the WCF World title as an active title in DSW, with the agreement ending when the hiatus on the WCF was lifted. Both sides agreed and Paul Roberts was able to represent the WCF and continue on as the WCF World Champion in DSW. However the official WCF record books have Roberts World title rein ending the day the hiatus occurred again having never been defeated for the championship.

WCF: Revolution debuts at DSW: CyberSlam
Throughout the course of the month Roberts recruited more WCF alumni to join him in DSW with the intent of taking over the DSW and giving the WCF life once more. Paul Roberts was set to defend the WCF World Title against Viper at CyberSlam and Roberts had an ace up his sleeve. Near the end of the match Viper was setting up Roberts for his finishing move getting ready to win the WCF Championship, when “Remedy” by Seether hit the PA WCF: Revolution had arrived and they cost Viper the match Roberts would go on to win and retain the title and the DSW had a serious problem on there hands.

The Battle lines are drawn for Scars and Stripes
Following the Pay-Per-View it was reveled that the WCF board of directors that were key in Roberts getting his world title shot at Golden Opportunity had sold the majority shares of WCF to Dean Phoenix, who then turned and sold it to the president of DSW, making the DSW president the owner of the WCF. He wanted nothing more than to see the WCF go away forever, but he gave the WCF the chance to get there shares back at Scars and Stripes. The battle for supremacy between DSW and WCF: Revolution waged on till the next Pay-Per-View were it was to be Team DSW vs WCF: Revolution in an elimination style Eight man tag team match in the main event. If WCF: Revolution won they would get there shares back if they lost then the WCF would die and go away for ever. WCF: Revolution easily won without losing even one member of there team.

Primetime gets his shot at the DSW Championship
Since WCF: Revolution handedly defeated Team DSW at Scars and Stripes the president of DSW could no longer keep WCF stars away from there world title. So a title match was booked for Monday Meltdown unfortunately in more than one way the event was cancelled just hours before it was to begin. On his way to the arena Robert’s limo was hit by a suburban and his already injured left knee was damaged further and doctors said they didn’t think he would ever wrestle again.

WCF: World Championship Federation

Primetime forfeits the World Championship
Just days after the DSW cancelled there last event the WCF re-opened on a new network Sports Entertainment Media. Via there news network SEM broke the news on various media including WCF-TV, Paul Roberts had been in a car accident and was not going to be able to compete at Hangover, but still was trying to make the event. When the event came Roberts, as usual, did not disappoint the people who spent there hard earned money to come to WCF’s first show back in three months. The show opened with Trev in the ring requesting that Roberts come to the ring to vacate the World Title citing that he could no longer compete. Roberts limped his way with a cane down to the ring were he reluctantly forfeited the World Championship to Trevor. Roberts promised that he was not done in the WCF and it didn’t lake long for everyone to find out what he meant.

Paul Roberts becomes Vice President of the WCF
The next week on Hangover it was revealed that Roberts was having a meeting with the very same board of directors that sold WCF stock to Dean Phoenix just one month before. Roberts positioned himself to become VP of operations in the WCF much like he did months earlier to position himself to become the number one contender to the world title. Needless to say Trevor was not happy about this decision and following the meeting Trevor had a private meeting with the executives to let them in on some of Roberts less appealing qualities ultimately the executives left the decision up to President Ulmer. Ulmer liked the idea of making Roberts earn his spot as VP just as he had earned his championships in the past. However should Roberts lose to Ulmer Primetime had to leave the WCF forever. Roberts went on to defeat and severely injure Ulmer at Harvest Festival to become Vice President.

Primetime reeks havoc on the WCF
For the next month Roberts had full rein of the WCF as President Ulmer was no were to be found after his match with Roberts. And Since Rederick defeated DragonSoldier at Harvest Festival to become the new World Champion, Roberts made it his mission to make Rederick’s life miserable, especially when Rederick declared himself the king. For the whole month leading up to Revolution II Roberts would place Rederick in a variety of matches pitting him as the underdog in an attempt to weaken him going into his “King of my world” match at Revolution II against Damien Sin. Even going as far as to make himself the special referee in the title match.

Trev returns at Revolution II and spoils Roberts plans
During the “King of my world” match main event at Revolution II Roberts was anything but impartial, after about five minutes of Sin and Roberts beating down Rederick, “Final Countdown” hit the PA and Trev made his return to Roberts surprise, laying out Roberts with a chair. The match was finally fair and Rederick would go on to defeat Damien Sin to retain the World Title.

Roberts/Ulmer era begins
Following Revolution II Roberts no longer had free rein of the WCF, and everything he decided on had to be a 100% agreement between the two men. Roberts then made it his mission to put Trevor out of the WCF once again.

Greatness is formed
Roberts signed two new superstars to the WCF with the approval of Trevor who unknowingly allowed Roberts to sign two men that would become his team members hell bent on putting Trevor out of the WCF once again. The group of Paul Roberts, Big Aristotle and Jeremiah Howl would become known as Greatness, and soon a match was signed at Purification that would pit Paul Roberts and Big Aristotle against Trevor and the returning Vincent VanBeck.

Greatness falls apart
As the match neared for Purification Jeremiah Howl dropped out of the WCF citing personal reasons, leaving Roberts and Aristotle as the sole members of Greatness. Prior to the match Roberts stated that Aristotle needed to live up to his hype, unfortunately Trev pulled out brass knuckles and proceeded to beat down Aristotle, when Aristotle looked for a tag from Roberts he just spit on his hand, seeing that Aristotle wasn’t as great as Roberts thought he was. Following this Roberts turned on Aristotle and joined in on the beat down. After the match Roberts fired Big Aristotle and Greatness had ended.

Primetime: Big, I thought I saw something huge in you. I thought you were something special. But I guess I was wrong. And boy by letting Trev stomp the shit out of you has earned you the beating you just got. You can leave that National Championship in the ring and get to stepping because you all is FIRED!

The entire arena is in aw, no one can believe what we have just seen from Paul Roberts. Trev extends a hand to Roberts. Appearing to want to burry the hatchet. Roberts looks at Trev in disgust and spits at his hand and exits the ring. Trev just shakes his head as Roberts leaves.

Paul Roberts resigns as Vice President
Following the match at Purification Roberts resigned as Vice President of the WCF knowing that he will never again be able to rid Trev from his fed that he loves so dearly. It would be almost a month before Roberts would be seen again on WCF-TV.

Primetime shows up on WCF-TV again
After almost a month of being absent Roberts appeared on WCF-TV once again with a message for the whole roster, saying that the WCF was doomed and needed a savior. Stating that he was glad he got off when he did because the WCF was a sinking ship and no normal man could save it.

Roberts announces his return to the ring
After not being at Hangover for almost two months Roberts appeared on the final Hangover before Golden Opportunity announcing his official entrance in the Golden Opportunity match. Stating that the WCF’s savior had arrived and he was going to save the WCF once again.

The WCF Closes again
Just a few days after stating that he was to return at Golden Opportunity the WCF announced that it would once again go on hiatus, and Roberts went back into retirement. Until he announced he would be part of team WCF against EGW in the EGW vs WCF War Games match.

EGW: Extreme Global Wrestling

Roberts is offered a EGW contract
Following the closure of the WCF, Roberts was recruited to join the EGW, however this style did not fit Roberts and he never accepted the offer.

OOC: War Games
Following a series of some very distasteful comments made by EGW stars on the WCF OOC boards a real life feud started between handlers from WCF and EGW. Although the EGW management did not support there handlers actions on WCF boards, they saw it as a catalyst to have a fedvsfed match. The match was not originally agreed upon, because it was believed that the WCF team would not get a fair chance, because the match would take place at a EGW venue and be judged by EGW staff, with WCF staff having no say in it. However eventually the match was signed and deemed EGW vs WCF: War Games. As predicted EGW won the match but it has been highly disputed. Paul Roberts was never officially defeated in the match.

WCF: World Championship Federation

The WCF re-opens (sort of)
Fortunately the WCF’s hiatus didn’t last though shortly following the War Games match Trev announced that he was going to re-open the WCF and was accepting applications. Roberts planned yet another return but sadly this re-opening never got off the ground and the WCF never actually re-opened.

No longer Online

Roberts takes time off
Roberts took some much needed time off after that and was not seen on any program for any federation for nearly a year.

UWF: Universal Wrestling Federation

The Return
After nearly a year of being away from the game Roberts began to get the itch again, the itch to compete, the itch to be champion, the itch to be the King. He started looking for a new home, and was recruited by a UWF star to come to the United Wrestling Federation. The federation was just re-opening and Roberts knew all about that. Unfortunately Roberts joined just days short of being included in the Universal Championship tournament at Tidal Wave, the first Pay-Per-View back for the UWF.

Primetime puts the roster on notice.
It didn’t take long for Primetime to make waves in the UWF, at the same event that would crown a new Universal Champion Roberts gave an interview where he “put the roster on notice”.

Primetime: Now, I have come here tonight to lay down the law. Each and everyone of you tow the line behind me! From the worst jobber, to the worst welterweight, to the worst heavyweight. All the way to the welterweight champion and the man who wins my Universal championship tonight. Because lets face it, whoever wins that title tonight is just holding it until I come for it! I am putting all of the roster on notice! I don’t care if I have to beat each and every one on the roster before management will give me a shot at the Universal Championship, they wont be able to keep me away from the belt for long, because each and everyone of them know that I am money, and that I am better than each and everyone of you!

Roberts wins first match in UWF
At the first Heat Wave for the UWF since re-opening Roberts was again in the main event. His opponents were Streets Wilson, Rick Stevens, and the Universal Champion himself Bobby “The Beast” Bishop. Roberts would pin the Universal Champion for a three count and win his first match in the UWF by defeating the Champion just as he said he would.

Primetime has his shot at the number one contender spot.
Following his dominant win at Heat Wave the president placed Roberts in his second strait main event match against Streets Wilson for the number one contender spot for the Universal Championship. The winner of the match would go on to face Bobby “The Beast” Bishop for the Universal Championship at Redemption.

Streets Wilson Disappears: Without a Trace
Throughout the week Roberts awaited word from his opponent Streets Wilson, he never showed so Roberts produced a program where he would go look for him, collecting whatever information he and his friends could from all known friends and family. Streets was unable to be located but the program was very entertaining.

Paul Roberts becomes Number One contender to Universal Championship in only two matches.
After a grueling match between Wilson and Roberts, “Primetime” kicked out of the vicious DDT, a move that no one in the UWF has ever kicked out of. Wilson then signaled for his finishing move when the lights went out. Roberts made it back to his feet just to be laid out by the masked man when the lights were out. Just when you thought the masked man was going to help Streets Wilson defeat “Primetime”, it was reveled that the masked man was Renegade, a long time rival of Streets Wilson; he laid out Wilson and placed Roberts arm on top of Wilson. With the help of Renegade “Primetime” Paul Roberts became the number one contender to the Universal Championship in only his second match in the UWF.

Primetime wins the Universal Championship in only four matches. A new personal record!
In only four matches Paul Roberts reached the UWF's top prize, a new personal best, one that would rival even the greatest of legends best records.

ASW: All Star Wrestling

New UWF owners order Paul to send back Universal Championship.
Just days after winning the UWF’s top prize, the Universal Championship, Roberts got a phone call that the UWF president had sold the company and abandoned its roster. The new owners wanted nothing to do with wrestling or its roster so it never had another card. When they ordered Paul to return the belt Roberts refused, and to this day still has the original UWF Universal Championship belt in his trophy case in his home.

“Primetime” Paul Roberts debuts in ASW.
In his first match in ASW he won via the Ankle Lock submission on Acanthus. The debut albeit unimpressive by itself has Roberts his first win in ASW, and has qualified him to challenge for a contender spot to a title.

Paul Roberts enters the X-Division
The X-Division is home to the greatest athletes on the planet, were the body endure more than any other division. Were better for Paul Roberts, the greatest athlete alive to start his legacy in ASW? In his second match he took on Goliath for the #1 contender spot in the X-Division.

Primetime Challenges CASH for the X-Title
After defeating Goliath in an X-Match, and becoming the #1 contender to the X-Title, Roberts would waste no time in challenging the Champion CASH to a title match. In hopes of making the X-Division more exciting and adding to the Division itself, he challenged CASH to an Ultamate-X match for the X-Title. It would remain to be seen if the ASW management would allow this match to happen, because "Ultimatly" it is up to them.

Primetime makes a statement at Slaughter
At the 5-4-08 addition of ASW Sunday Slaughter CASH had just finished his match in a losing effort to Van Morbious. As CASH stumbled to his feet the music of his future opponent hits the PA and Roberts enters from the crowd and nails CASH with a missile drop kick. As CASH slowly gets to his feet he walked right into the Virtebreaker, having laid out CASH in the middle of the ring Roberts then took the X-Title and went to the top of the entrance ramp. As he awaited CASH to awaken he placed the title at his feet as if he were daring CASH to come and get it. After a few moments Roberts left the arena leaving the title at the top of the entrance ramp. Although the title match had yet to be signed Roberts maid an impact that CASH wont soon forget.

Primetime continues to pursue the X-Title.
From the first day that Roberts challenged CASH for the X-Title in Ultamate X, CASH declined and tried to walk away from Primetime, hoping that Roberts would lose the number one contender spot before a match would ever take place. Roberts, however had a different plan, every week until the match was booked, sometimes more than once in a night, Primetime would attack CASH and taunt him by standing tall with the X-Title. It wouldn’t be long before the match was signed and it was “Primetime” Paul Roberts vs CASH for the X-Title in Ultimate X. Primetime won the innovative match, but after the PPV, ASW went on hiatus and Roberts entered into retirement once more.
