What did you accomplish this week that is in line with your scheduled tasks?] 1) Determine the actual business problem. [Completed] Discussing fully with the owner’s of the business to make sure a full and complete understanding of how their wants/needs are not currently being met with the current business operations. 2) Examine the business operations of each store. Developing a complete understanding of how this business is ran. Also, examining how information flows through this business. [Completed] Major accomplishments associated with this task are: Developed better business understanding and investigation tools. Also, developed good interpersonal communication skills when relating to others. 3) Examine another consignment store in the same area. [Completed] Examine how other like businesses in the same area conducts daily operations. Keeping in mind that there may be differences based on product sold in those stores. Some stores still sell men and women’s clothing along with other home essentials. Also, examine these differences to determine if this is a better way for them to do business. 4). [What came up that needed to be addressed? Some things came up when investigating the operations of the store in terms of how they did business. What methods they used when storing information about the seller of the items and how much money to owe them. Did you run into a problem or roadblock? None found. How did you solve it? What important decisions did you make this week that impacted your project? The key decision made this week was to spend an extra day investigation information flow in the stores to see if it was the same in every store. What were the key tasks you performed this week? Certain decisions were made involving which store of like nature to examine. It was determined to study a store called My Three Sisters, also in Elizabethtown, KY. Another decision made was about which website to look over. That website was http://www.maizieshop.com.] |

[Answer all questions below.] 1) What helpful feedback did you get in the class (instructor, classmates) and outside the class (user, stakeholder, beneficiary, mentor, expert advisor, others)? What did you learn from this feedback? There wasn’t feedback per se just good information. There was a lot of discussion on how the business ran in every aspect. Also what kind of changes they wanted to make to the business to improve it. 2) What resources did you use this week (e.g., people, money, equipment, systems, or software)? The biggest resource used was people and the information that they had to give. There was some software used via observing the website Did you add new resources? NO new resources were added. What was your learning? I learned how to run a consignment shop and how it is ran online. 3) What research did you perform this week that was assisting and/or literature based? This week there was no current literature research but some internet research on a like store operated on line. What was your learning? I learned how websites operate and how they list merchandise. Also, I noticed how information about sellers is stored. |
