PENNINGTON MOSASAUR SITE

This photo represents the more interesting fossils. The larger vertebra are about mid-section of the spine, the small round vertebra are from the tail region. The tooth in the bottom row has been broken open exposing the root, and I found both pieces. The large piece of jaw at right in the middle row is 5 inches long. March 16, 2007.

The vertebral cast has been opened and some of the matrix has been removed. Never know what you're going to find at this stage. March 16, 2007.

Another close-up of the spine. It's about four feet long. March 17, 2007.

Instead of trying to turn the "neck portion" cast over, I chose to remove the cast in the field and remove the bones. March 18, 2007.

Here's the contents of the neck cast, not to much to retrieve. March 18, 2007.

A closer view of the preceding photo. March 18, 2007.

This is the site after I closed it. The large white object is the cast I just removed. March 18, 2007.

Further preparation of the spine. March 18, 2007.

This picture shows the vertebra and ribs well. March 18, 2007.
