Tools of the Trade

Altar: A consecrated place which holds the witches tools. Some hold a statue of either the Mother Goddess or the Horned God, very rarely both.

Wand: Made from a wood sacred to the Goddess (ie. elderberry, oak, willow, rowan, hazel, or mistletoe)

Athame: A black-handled, double-edged steel dagger used for directing energy.

Bolline: A white-handled knife used to make magickal tools and other objects or to inscribe letters or symbols on wood or wax.

Cauldron: An iron pot used for preparing powers and potions.

Chalice: A goblet used in rituals during communion rites.

Talisman: An object with magickal properties empowered for a particular purpose. Some Witches use various types of jewelry.

Book Of Shadows: A Witch's most prized possession. A book containing spells, incantations, rituals, etc...

Charm Bag: Used to carry various powders, gems, herbs, etc...

Broom: Used to ritualistically sweep an area clean of negativity. Many Witches name their brooms.
