A Lively Mind is not only Paul Oakenfold's second artist album, but also his second for Perfecto Records. A Lively Mind continues the tradition of employing unique vocalists. The single, Faster Kill Pussycat is probably the most unique and shocking of the album when it comes to guest singers.

The song features the astounding singing talents of Brittany Murphy (Eminem's girlfriend in '8 Mile', the 'femme fatale' in 'Sin City.' Brittany Murphy was recommended to Oakenfold by a mutual friend. Paul Oakenfold claims that it is totally different and unfamiliar than that of Russ Meyer's cult classic film, 'Faster. Pussycat. Kill Kill.'
