Social Skills

There is an old piece of advice that people typically use in their social relatioships: "Think about how you yourself would have felt and reactred in such a situation." This applies as far as it is a question of charachteristics which are the same to all or if the two persons, you and the other, are, much alike in that respect. But the advice fails to take into account ther differencies between people. Typically, even if you have a good generalisable picture of yourself, there are such differencieds in the strenght of each charachteristic, so you will nedd to generalise a charachteristic by charachteristic and adjust the strenghts of each siode of the person individually - taking into account your special chanrachteristics and the special charachteristics of the other one. Good school like thinking helps in this: this is me reacting, this isn't me, it is another person, namely Lilli, so to her the situation is like... and so she reacts like is typical to her...
