The social skills of the Finnish spaeking Finns
It is a clishe that Finnish speaking Finns have poor social skills and that they would always want better skills in social things, watching all the TV series in order to learn from the actors. But acted social relationships can give nothing like the practise that one gets from ordinary social life of sincere people with other sincere people in the middle of shared life experience. That way one learns the real dynamiscs of people to people social interaction and of life. For example the Swedish speaking Finns with their much more acted roles cannot get anything like that understanding. It is just that our understanding isn't through the usual kind of vocabulary used in describing social things in other contexts than our life itself but more like philosophy of life and a theory of the societies functioning.
One sign about the social skills of the Finnish speaking Finns is that most of us , as far as I know, do not have learning to read thoughts as a very distant dream but have as a practical everyday life goal to learn to read MORE thoughts than they have this far benn able to read. By reading thoughts I mean seeing the thoughts, emotions and atmospheres of another from their gesture language like is usual in everyday life here in Finland.
